At first I was skeptical that I would use the tablet functionality at all. I then decided to only due to the availability and the slightly cheaper price of this device and to an ASUS notebook with comparable hardware, but in the classic clamshell design with a smaller package size and less weight.
The decision I do not regret it, because after I got to know the benefits, I would probably never again a classic laptop. Especially if, like me reads exclusively digitally, it is much more pleasant to remove the keyboard and then scroll using the touchscreen. So you can then place the unit closer to him or on the sofa, or bed, it is more enjoyable without disturbing the keyboard between it and the screen. Even web browsing is much more pleasant than on a normal notebook. The touchpad I use actually pretty much never and the Bluetooth mouse that I still have the old laptop, I use only for a Web application, which should be adapted to touchscreen operation, but unfortunately very poor. Without the adjustment, it would be better to use as my so does not turn to the next page when you move ...
I bought also the Dell 750-AAHC Stylus Pen, which works without problems with the HP together. At first I thought again that I would hardly use it, but it is quite handy as well as to zoom directly without can take small things and also the right mouse button can be used more quickly. But the most important is probably the hover function. Some websites, such as the HP even have menus that are not really operate without this feature. Over time, it will be but fortunately less and less. In addition, lazy people like me must thanks to the increased range the arm not quite move so much;)
I can understand that HP has designed the device on media consumption and it is also great, thanks to the screen and the speakers. However, it is through the speakers in my opinion too wide. I use the device for the university, where I could have done without for a little more portability to the large speakers. Alternatively, I would have also liked a bigger battery.
The battery life is actually quite good. Especially if you have open only NEN PDF program and NEN textbook or lecture slides reads or so, while the brightness is turned up, the battery lasts hours without being noticeably empty. The device remains cold. However, if you constantly the processor load as Chrome unfortunately makes me, the power dwindles much faster and you can feel on the back as it gets hotter. For me, the battery has indeed nevertheless has always fully served, but you can never have enough and the charger you do not have then also constantly have this, although the supplied is very small.
At first I was skeptical that the processor would not be too hot and therefore can no longer use the full Turbo, as you can read it from other Core M devices partially. But probably due to the size and the housing completely made of metal, I could not make it over some period of time to overheat even at full load on the processor by the OCR processor. Prime 95 is then led to a restriction of the Turbo clock, but really I have noticed nothing and Synthetic Benchmarks, which are designed to generate heat are also no everyday application. So far I had no crashes or stuttering and I used the device almost daily 4-12 hours. The system will start in a few seconds and is always fast, SSD goodness. I wonder how today still can use a computer without SSD and why almost all laptops are offered with conventional hard disk. After my first SSD laptop 4 years ago I bought with the exception of external hard drives for backups only SSDs and recommended. This is now my now 6 system with SSD and all family members and friends, I have come to the SSD, do not want to go back. Who are not enough, the 128GB, can use a micro SD card low. USB sticks and external hard drives can not be plugged in at all, but for data that you do not always need, such as movies or data backups, it's okay.
