and I should not be disappointed. When unpacking the lens me the new processing and the new design from Sigma fell straight into the eye. The workmanship is top quality and comes close to the L-lenses from Canon. There are only little things that are to be criticized, as the focus ring is not as soft as butter runs as a Canon L-(but that's really complain at a high level). The design is a matter of taste, but I like the almost completely black lens very well.
Now I come to the big question looks like the performance. Even at maximum aperture makes it amazingly sharp images that I did not expect. Light dimmed down to f / 2.8, it is always very sharp even to the brim. From f / 5.6 it is extremely sharp, a wahrlicher eye candy. Furthermore, it creates a very homogeneous and soft bokeh and chromatic aberrations are indeed to be found in small aperture values but fall very low from, so it is easy to remove by means of software. Likewise, the vignetting is less than expected at f / 1.4.
Autofocus could be a bit faster, but it is fail (if I've got a good shard caught).
Overview (+ Top / o Acceptable / - negative):
+ Focus
+ Luminous intensity
+ Bokeh
+ Price / performance ratio
+ Processing
o optical defects
o Autofocus
Conclusion: All in all, a true masterpiece of Sigma at a decent price. I'm curious how it's going.
