I attached the SSD via the connector supplied in the kit to a USB port on my computer.
I inserted the CD-ROM (bootable) into the drive (warning: the format of this CD is such that its content is completely invisible on Windows), I restarted the computer, which normally booted from CDROM, making appear GUI "Acronis True Image HD."
I selected the "Clone", indicating the original HDD (SATA 640GB) and SD target (the 480 GB SSD).
Everything happened so fully automatically:
- Creating and formatting partitions on the SSD 4 (3 NTFS and FAT32 1).
- Design "smart" for each partition (automatic).
- Complete copy of all data.
WARNING: this operation was rather long (over 3 hours). A progress bar symbolizes the course of the process, but at first, given the scale, we do not see anything moving! It is therefore recommended to be patient.
When it was over, after shutdown and replacement of physical SATA HDD by SSD, I restarted the computer without any problems. There were two successive Windows restarts due to update some drivers (fully automatic), and Windows 7 final started perfectly without any error message with the new HDD SSD!
Thereafter, the CD can manage scores of all DD if desired.
Only restriction: this CD is not usable in Windows, you must first boot the computer over, which is not very troublesome, as the resizing / cloning operations require anyway restarting the computer.
I recommend this kit without any hesitation!
