It's great fun, so at night to run through the streets and convenient to be able to see pictures of your hand in 1/60 (ISO 800). The large aperture in conjunction with the Image Stabilizer makes it almost impossible come true. Etc. A little leaning on a lantern and a steady hand have HOWTO possible even good pictures with 1/8. So moods can capture outstanding. Limitation is, of course, the fixed focal length, which in normal living rooms a bit with 75 mm small picture equivalent to long to capture party atmosphere, but in the great outdoors / City or at concerts quite useful.
Also portraits are of course a good thing. The large opening a very nice detachment can be reached from the background. One must surely be aware that the maximum aperture of 1.8 in portrait distance really only one can play a very narrow focus range, so it's about impossible upside down from the tip of the nose to the ears take sharp, but it has indeed not be getting the full aperture.
A haven provides manual focus will notice a big difference to 16-50 mm kit: the "translation" of the electronic also, very wide focusing ring is many times larger than usual there. It can thus be set very differentiated even in small areas.
