Positives:
The appearance is reminiscent of smartphones: everything is indeed more colorful than usual from Navigon, but still it does not seem too - it remains functional, concise and clear; especially when you turn off the otherwise always revolving POI button. All "commands" to be implemented quickly and the entire operation is intuitive.
The Navi is rather the "quieter" attributable fraction, ie a few -. But for meaningful and clear instructions are given.
Very good active magnetic holder. It's never been easier to click his Navi.
The design is modern and yet has that certain something to develop cult status. So the Navi acts emotionally ... just somehow sympathetic.
The route calculation is very fast - as indeed all the functions are easy to use and really take place promptly. In particular, the voice control is completely possible and work of all Navis, which I had, at best - almost perfect!
The automatic zoom is absolutely helpful and useful solved-even traffic jam warnings are fine. The screen is crystal clear and the view still clearly visible even in bright ambient light.
Someone who drives more like voice guidance, probably underestimated another Navi more - although as the turn instructions are usually given 2x "Turn left at the next traffic lights turn left" and then "turn left into Regent Street - who both preferred (voice instructions in combined with screen control) is the Garmigon properly and can get away with it well.
Negatives:
What could be improved?
Announcements and view the navigation process are easily nachziehend, ie here a delay factor of about 15-20 meters should be noted; Knowing this, one expects that one and comes mostly clear - only in the city with lots of lanes can nevertheless already "complicated" to the timely change / turn; the Garmin reached this level yet not quite - who is foresighted driving example of Navigon through the excellent leadership accustomed to must have a little change. Can indeed handle facing the good map display. But for me still the most serious negative point.
Other reviewers have already mentioned, that often comes with the job start navigation to drive to the nearest road to start there with the actual navigation: I have learned so well, I personally find but not problematic, because the route guidance begins immediately.
For route guidance itself:
one can choose for example between fastest and shortest -. still remains - as with virtually all new Navis the problem which route really the "best" is now As with Becker, Falk, TomTom, Navigon is a street guide sometimes "weird" in front:
it is not necessarily only the simplest - elected pronounced "large" main streets - you will sometimes zigzagging out on roads that are as "Einhemischer" would thus not choose (and of course there is in this Navi again newer roads / roundabouts etc . that are well-maintained only with an update).
BUT: the problem they all have; really all Navis "may" appear to this simple - even if it means a little more route will be generated - and still fastest route no longer berechneen to 100%. That's too bad, annoying - but now applies to all precisely alike (explained to me even through the "intelligent / historic" Route choice - choice for peak hours and traffic congestion depending on time of day). Additional bookable services such as warning function Blitzer etc. are probably always inactive for the duration of the subscription is active and after ... but that is now practical for most companies.
Conclusion:
Overall a (4) remains for me then the final Result 5 star rating for the Garmigon because all other Navis I tested had more different weaknesses repeatedly - so the perfect Navi is currently probably not in the offer ...
The "Garmigon" makes much but very good - and based on the sum of all other competitors mE bottom line with the best (if one looks at the pure navigation performance, was also the TomTom GoLive 1015 similar levels)!
From me a clear recommendation, especially as the customer service was really good hotline - at least in my case; There was also an indication that the supplied additional TMC -Wurfkabel not necessary either for Stauwarnunungsempfang. I'm really very happy with the Garmin 3597 and for the first time in a long time - for our own practical experience with so-called all "test winners" of Stiftung Warentest / ADAC (Falk, Becker, TomTom) I have now again "my" Navi found..
Or how anyone thinks otherwise: "It rocks"! Yeah !!!
PS: TIP - If you press a long time at the top right corner of the screen, a window will open with special settings for updates through the Garmin customer service ...
Addendum of 05/20/2014:
Have belatedly noticed that there is a discounted upgrade action via DAB + receiver for better queue warning. Then contact the Garmin Customer Service. Here I have then still the coupon code for the 70 module cable get (after all, instead of 89 Euros so only 39 euros).
Now that is customer-friendly!
Thus, the negative reviews in terms hotline / help employees I can not understand at all for the second time for my contacts ... Top-quality advice and Entgegegnkommen!
Update 1.6.14:
Unfortunately, I have problems with every update: Lately the card (2014) the whole of Europe are larger than it can handle memory the internal (+ supplied 4GB card); So I bought an 8GB card - is not recognized / integrated - also a second from another company. Nothing works anymore. Therefore only possible installation of central Europe. Hotline is friendly, but apparently ultimately overwhelmed with real help. Garmin Express it unusable. Mapupdater helps not really. Updates are therefore once again very problematic. I really ought to therefore reduce the assessment of 5 to 3.5 stars. Something's not ... you're gonna get it back by Garmin not to have the updates automatically and play problemos. An absolute NO GO !!!
In addition, caution should be exercised when the Navi between times longer time is nothing by itself:
every now and then latches it in the short term and we must start navigating new again! Could also be an update problem.
