1. Yamaha YST SW 012
2. Yamaha YST SW 030
3. Yamaha YST FSW 050
True to the motto, the more expensive the better, I expected that the 030 SW would be better than the SW 012, I had to sample a year ago already times. Pretty disappointed I was but from the impression that the SW 030 made on me: Depending on the site was hardly anything to hear from their bass - or he boomed directly uncomfortable. On top of that the "block" me visually did not respond much.
A treat the FSW was against 050: At the same place built (next to bed), she developed a very different bass quality. Pressure without droning. In addition, a significantly schmuckeres appearance that allows a frontal formation (in a rack or in addition to TV), without that the woman of the house turns up his nose. It is rounded out by the good service from the front of the box.
An incorrect delivery of the third member, the SW 012 came to a few days later. Actually, I did not want to unpack it, because I was fully satisfied with the FSW 050. Then I have them still unpacked and against each other can "play". There was actually yet again an audible difference: The bass of SW 012 were again a ticking crisp. In order to compare them better, I had the 012 SW even a bit further turn down (to about 30%) - because I wanted to meet the "threat" to confuse volume with quality. Nevertheless, as I said, sounded the SW 012 something "excessive bass".
In one of the specimens I was a little surprised that but the FSW 030 produced a fuller overall sound. I suspect, therefore, that, unlike the SW 012, the mid-range frequencies supported clearer. That can be good to help (weaker) standing speakers - but also like to go "in the pants" when the sound overall verwäscht thereby. Everyone needs to try for themselves.
So: Who can not ignore the visual aspect, which I would thoroughly recommend for FSW 030, who always placed the box "invisible", which is, in my opinion a little better off, with the SW 012. However, the "tail" operation is really a bit cumbersome ...
