The internal memory (120MB) allows immediate use. At medium setting of 1600x1200 pixels the size of an image is just under 1 MB, so 120 photos are possible, which is neat.
The main functions are easy to find, the operation almost intuitively. For example, the observation made pictures (when switched [m] camera [lens] possible!): PLAYBACK images are displayed. With the zoom switch (above) can be adjusted to the size of the images, and select Show rotary multi selector quickly by. Moving the zoom control in the other direction allows the magnification of the selected image. Thus even with a long range of the pictures and keep track can be particularly good images other immediately. (Only the images appear on the small screen because of the compression bit pixelated.)
Especially good is the close-up (Symbol: flower). (One option that I have used with Andren apparatuses hitherto little, because the results were unsatisfactory.) Unlike here: Tiny text are sharp and can be read. Detail, sharpness, color fidelity and saturation are excellent.
For Verspielte offers the Coolpix S9900 in addition to the three-step fast processing and D-Lightning (sharpness regulation, lightening) 7 effects that can be used immediately: 1) paintings, 2) posterization, 3) Portrait with soft focus, 4) Portrait (color + b / w), 5) Fisheye, 6 star effect (see picture with the book), 7) Miniature Effect nice, if you use any professional programs. The edited image is not overwritten but saved as a separate image. Leafing also a small icon appears at the top. Practical!
Also very nice / convincing: the smart portrait function. (See example: bust Planet of the Apes.)
For nature lovers: Each screen has further details such as date + time. In addition, a compass can be switched to. For travelers and hikers, the GPS function (World Map) + own location may indicate gold be worth it. And who likes pulls into the distance and sees will be delighted by the optical zoom!
The recording with the camera in enclosed spaces can not convince me completely. Since I probably still try some functions / settings. When viewing on the hinged monitor can hear a distinct hum / noise.
Bin for three weeks in the tasting phase and find that you have a good all-rounder with this device. Because it is slightly wider and will not fit in your pocket, a camera bag is useful. To save any money, take a look at the predecessor Nikon S9700. For the S9900 saith the hinged monitor!
