As is typical of Native Instruments is perfectly cut to the proprietary software (machine).
Once you open this (after installing the drivers, software packages + sound) it is "right" activated.
Before is a signal that you can activate MIDI mode by key combination and "control" so other applications can like Ableton, Reason, FL, Logic via the display etc.
Furthermore, is installed when you install the machine and the VST plugin and so one can per example Ableton machine sounds, remotely control devices.
The 16 pads can be for single shots set (each key a different sound)
or to provide it as a keyboard and so individual notes are played per key.
The whole makes for settling lot of fun and you can after a few hours his own creation miss a name.
This I work with Ableton since 4 years I used the VST plugin to work.
So I can not give any advantages to the software because I've only used 10 minutes to test by this.
In my opinion, Maschine Mikro is a perfect match for the studio no matter if beginner, SemiPro or Pro.
If you want to work seriously with the software of the machine then one should look at the normal version or the studio version.
These have then its price.
That what I expected, I got so I can not 5 * awarded and this device to others.
