The most important thing first: The SCX-4634FN is small, quiet, consumes little standby power and prints quickly with a sharp print image; That made me very pleasantly surprised, the unit looks but compared to an HP MFP rather petite.
Features and functionality are very good:
Copy quality is wonderful even with gradients, the ADF works perfectly (= draws> 20 sheets quickly and above all just a) and also scan and fax over a network function properly.
The TWAIN interface does not offer too many settings, but provides very decent results.
Network faxing is a stunner: In contrast to our previous HP device (Laserjet M1522nf) you can watch the broadcast progress in the Samsung software, has a real fax journal and receive notification when the fax is through.
Also you can subscribe to notifications about various status messages via e-mail or forward incoming faxes directly to your PC; great.
We use the equipment of three PCs via home network. The device worked without objection on any of the PCs, everything worked right away.
We had initially considered again to buy an HP product. But they were much more expensive. And after the cause for new acquisition for the second time a faulty after one year and 8,000 pages printed HP device was (PCB in the bucket), we have taken the plunge to Samsung. Keeps the SCX-4623FN by, then there will be no jump back: quality and functions = very good, price and running costs are at least on paper much cheaper than HP.
We have two other Samsung phones looked (SCX-4824N, SCX-4833FD): The difference for 4824 is marginal and certainly not relevant in everyday life. The 4833 is only interesting in our view, if you actually print much and possibly even PostScript needs: This may gem. Samsung specification neither the 4824 nor our 4623rd
What we can not yet assess the long-term suitability: We print> 500 Pages pm - because I am still not clear how long the device by holding.
He holds by then is our conclusion: great device, strong buy recommendation.
