The following review is held in some places deliberately subjective, since design and typing comfort are just one of a personal taste issue. Despite everything, I try my vote to make as to objective criteria understandable. (On good German: I will comment along the lines of "Are you crazy, this is the best Tastur which are" not enter.)

I must mention vornweg that I have recently written to a favorable compact keyboard from Logitech (K300), with which I am very happy / was. But the praises of mechanical keyboards have made me curious. Although many manufacturers produce mechanical keyboards, is the offer of "gamer" more manageable. In principle, of course, is almost any keyboard to play fully, but will be of little extras, such as lighting, an eye-catching design, or programmable macro buttons and mechanical switches, the choice is much lower. Until recently, I have wavered between the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate and the Corsair K90 or K60. For Corsair I decided, since the red cherry switches should be very smooth and barely audible. Due to the lighting and the macro keys, I decided finally for the K90.

When unpacking equaled the first negative surprise, the packaging has already been opened. In virgin may not be! Either Amazon trying to sell me a return, or it has to do with the false labeling of the "Page Up" / "Page Down" keys. (For an explanation: Originally the keys were incorrectly printed "Blid on" / "off Blid" after some German users have complained to Corsair, has been touched up here so it may well be that Amazon get Austausschtasten by the manufacturer and has mounted.. ) It is true that this point has nothing to do with the product, but it seemed to me at this point but worth mentioning if other customers encounter the same problem.

The keyboard itself is hard and looks very robust, almost bulky of their dimensions. The brushed aluminum makes a high quality impression, which is however mitigated by the plastic keys. Visually "bites" the strong contrast somehow. What looks in the pictures yet interesting and noble, has unfortunately less convinced me in kind. Connecting went smoothly with two very high quality acting, sheathed USB cables (one for the keyboard selbts, the other for the integrated USB slots on the head side of the keyboard). The drivers were easily recognized. The downloadable software I have not tried, because it was clear quite early that the keyboard is not for me.

After connecting my ennorme brightness of Beleutchtung immediately noticed. The buttons light up to full intensity light even during the day and are clearly visible. But on closer look at the key I noticed that the label is irregular. The illumination of the keys is not uniform, the non-mechanical keys are somewhat weaker than their mechanical counterparts illuminated. Also, some characters not in line with the rest, that they differ in part by one or two millimeters in height from each other. Two to three letters were even slightly wrong. The keyboard is hereby restless and cheap, almost as if you had a Far East imitation of the original right. Furthermore, I noticed that the LED was broken under the comma / semicolon key. After the reviews to judge other buyers, both problems occur seemingly more often. For the high price I would have expected much more (quality?). It may be that this is a model Monday, but the search in various forums but suggests that the week at Corsair has probably two to three assembly (at least in the Abeiteilung that manufactures this keyboard).

We come to the writing experience. I am accustomed to flat keys, which the more convenient solution seems to be for my smallish hands. Unfortunately, it is not technically possible to combine mechanical switches with low-profile keys. The K90 keys are high, just as it is known from the older keyboards. In addition, the keyboard itself is quite high. Thus, the first attempts at writing were unfamiliar and I ached after a few minutes the wrists. For users with more smaller hands this keyboard is therefore not recommended, especially if you come from a flat keyboard. Positive the sufficiently long and pleasantly non-slip palm rest, I noticed. The keys themselves can be pressed easily and accurately solve, but without acoustic or haptic feedback from. You have not even by hammer to the stop buttons. With a little practice and the right hands can be so sure increase the writing speed compared to a rubber dome keyboard. Also positive is the volume buttons, a click on the button pressed by though clearly perceptible, but only slightly higher and hardly louder than an ordinary keyboard.

Overall, the keyboard leaves me with a very mixed feeling. It is made of high quality material, but in detail has been sloppy, as a total package it is clearly too expensive for the quality. Visually and ergonomically (subjectively!) I am rather disappointed with what has prompted me, the keyboard to return (apart from the defective LED). I have now ordered a Microsoft Sidewinder X4 (on the I type even). For more than a third of the price I have this keyboard can convince in every respect right away, to the lack of mechanical switches I can in my brief experience with the K90 but quite dispense; it is not a major disadvantage.
