Ideal for Garmin ANT + compatible watches, even those with GPS. Indeed, the pedometer gives a much more reliable instantaneous speed that the speed given by my GPS watch (405CX in my case), which is updated only every 4 seconds.

My 405CX simultaneously uses GPS (distance and average speed) and the pedometer (instant speed and number of strides per second). I think this should be the case with other Forerunner watches Also, while it is never explicitly stated in the Garmin documentation.
