Rather by accident I came across the work of Andrew Doughty. The few (but very positive reviews) then persuaded me to buy. Attention will also take the first lesson: Since this is an English book, the price is not the same everywhere. Amazon Germany estimated 13.80, Amazon US $ 14.40 (I saw once before for $ 12, xx) and the German bookstores want about 16th Please never buy the part as Kindle Edition! I can not imagine how to scroll in the holiday through a travel guide in the electronic version and there would quickly find a beach, etc. I just. Above all, the author referenced constantly in one way or another card as it is in my opinion almost impossible navigating the eBook Reader.
As Oahu Revealed came, I made up my mind to read before the holiday through the pages and to deal with the localities. That worked then unfortunately not quite so I had the first contact then on the 16-hour flight from home. At the beginning is a Andrew for a few pages on the history of the island (s) and deals with local conditions, flora and fauna. Himself the author describes as someone who has lived several years in the islands and was about to experience and describe even the most insignificant trifle this. He makes really terrific and in so many places I had to nod so agree, and laugh at the Writing. You can expect nothing stiff down writing, but a loose and all the pages of time entertaining Write.
The book itself is very nice divided into the different parts of the island, which are then dissected neatly. But that does not happen too costly and not degenerates into boredom out. There are just enough supplied a lot of information, so that the respective point of interest is described. Learn more I put then out of the net.
The author responds to various beaches, activities, attractions, food and hotels. Here everything Themed also assesses. He swears that these evaluations were carried out independently and hey ... I take him off. The points that I have taken from the book coincided regarding the evaluation with his. Especially when eating it's often difficult to find a consensus. But when he wrote that the fries were just OK and the food is a calorie bomb, I could agree. Well, maybe that was simply due to the fact that many of the food on Oahu calorie bombs are ;-) delicious it was still ...
Should one or the other then be motivated and want to visit other islands of Hawai'i, I strongly recommend the other books of Andrew. Even online it is always up to date progress ([...]) and at Twitter, there are almost daily fresh images of the islands and activities. I could get the impression that no one can hold a candle to the writer when it comes to competence with respect to the statements about the islands.
Please do not be deterred if you yourself can not be sure with English. I think this book for accessible and much reveals itself, too often out of context :-)
