Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM (filter thread 72mm) for Nikon lens mount (Electronics)

Customer Review

I have long toyed with this lens. On the one hand because his price a little "ouch!" making, and on the other hand because a stories about this series scatterings, front- and back-focus settings unsettle something. I to my beloved D5200 but finally wanted a piece of true value and have it and never more this unspeakable plastic zooms, as they unfortunately only finds in Nikon's lens-portfolio for DX, I bought this lens.

The facts: The Sigma has a zoom Obektiv with a focal length range of "only" 18mm to 35mm (equivalent to a viewing angle of 27-52,5mm to Nikon's FX-sensors.), Which at first sight for the high price a little puny anmutet. But in my case - I shoot a lot in landscapes, much the city and architecture, portraits and occasionally very rare Tele - I need both wide-angle and medium focal lengths. And that gives it all to me Sigma only with this one objective.

To feel: It is made of glass and metal, ergo it feels indeed very high and rugged, but of course it is a little hard. Excited right I am from the very gentle and smooth running of the zoom and focusing rings: Yes, just on the latter I put despite autofocus much value, because I films like nature short documentaries and finally are soft zoom and manual focusing in my films easily implemented ,

To look: This lens has a maximum aperture of F1.8 continuous over the entire zoom range, making them ideal for me to films with the DSLR. Thanks to the huge open aperture it is extremely light and highly targeted work with sharpness levels is over the entire zoom range without any problems. Also fantastic is the bokeh and the brilliance and sharpness in the picture: do you do it right, you get fantastic photos with this "full-frame" look.

My conclusion: After a lot of frustration with the kit shards of my camera manufacturer I finally arrived in the seventh lens sky. The Sigma is expensive, but worth every penny and has, in my opinion, the stuff want the "Swiss Army Knife" for all photographers and DSLR filmmakers who shoot "really serious" and films. Small side effect: It can smile at a rampant full-hype. :-)

Although a little heavy and large, I have with the Sigma 18-35mm found for my D5200 my future Always plan. From me there is therefore a strong buy recommendation!
