The lens allows incredibly sharp images and has a great bokeh. One should be aware that you have to edit a lot in portrait photos with this lens, because here even the smallest blemish or the shortest ladies stubble does not remain hidden.
The 50mm F2.0 lens is not recommended for indoor photos! The E510 has in my view, a general problem with the autofocus and this lens is particularly hard hit.
In my experience, are photos indoors (even in bright sunlight through windows) total luck. If you're unlucky, the AF motor running even from far back to infinity and back. One should also emphasize that this engine is very loud and can be quite embarrassing in Society (Had you ever tried to take a picture of my companion at a dinner with internal flash, but without Stroboskopgewitter - bad idea).
Even those who want to shoot close-ups, could be enttäucht circumstances of this lens, as you usually rankommt not close enough to the subject.
If you like flowers photographed, should rather pick up the 35mm Macro
Those who like insect Photographed needs significantly more focal length.
Ums again briefly to summarize:
+ Image quality
+ Size
+ Supplied lens hood
-lauter AF motor
-External Flash with Hilfslichtfür indoor photography indispensable
-schlechtere AF performance than the much cheaper kit lenses
Addendum:
It took a long time before I could get used to the 50mm macro. The AF is in low light conditions (starting at 50mm even at room light with window) and unusable to disturbingly loud, unfortunately a little small close-ups of plants and insects, the imaging scale. I would recommend this lens as a portrait lens in daylight or with external flash (for the AF-assist illuminator).
For this, the lens has an incredible image quality. Meanwhile, I use it together with the EX-25 Extension Tube for macro shots and am deeply impressed by the results. For taking photos of people in warmer weather or with external flash, it is more than suitable (as long as taking time for post-processing, the lens shows mercilessly every blemish and every ladies stubble). It should not be used without external flash in closed rooms (with windows), for available light I think it is absolutely unsuitable (the job has now got the great 14-54 mm with me).
If the auto focus just a bit would be better, I would give it 5 stars.
