With my NEC burner (16x, DL), there were never problems. The blanks were (as well as other brands) recognized always right. This is because NEC ongoing firmware update for older models is available (not eg LG). For quite a few Verbatim blanks the failure rate was 0%. What more do you want? So do not blame everything on the blanks, when things are not hinhaut. A tip: Depending on the application should be the maximum burner and blank speed not always ausreizen. Data DVDs are relatively uncritical at 16x but when burned to DVD vacation videos can on conventional (and especially older) DVD players come on television ever to evil stuttering and dropouts.
