When I read the comments I see that some get the adapter with cord, others not ... (???) Personally I had. That said, the adapter receives electricity as the green light is on, but it will not charge my phone (iPhone 4s) or with the supplied cord or with the original Apple cable. Great for a product being sold as "special iphone / ipod" ......
