The keyboard is of decent quality and the fair hit. We regret that it is not backlit, but at that price no hope the moon.
In terms of applications provided (all in the Google Chrome ecosystem), they cover the essential needs (surfing, email on Gmail or other webmail, simple office via Google Drive, viewing videos on YouTube or from a USB storage .. .) and even offline!
And for most of us hackers, it is easily possible to add Linux / Ubuntu Chrome OS in parallel with the Crouton tool. This opens many possibilities since it is then possible to add to an office suite LibreOffice offers more compatibility than Google Docs, VLC to play all kinds of videos or still photo editing software (eg Gimp) if you do not want to store your photos on any cloud. The small Celeron accompanied by 4GB of RAM makes the job stride.
Finally for those who are concerned about the low storage capacity (16GB), this is more than enough in the case of a purely Chrome OS use. If you need more (for photos or videos, for example), add an external drive on USB 3.0
The main weakness of this machine is its poor screen quality (brightness, viewing angles, low resolution ...), which are but one extra machine unless plug it into another LCD ( or TV) through an HDMI cable. But it is the case for all the computers sold at such a price (except the HP Chromebook 11 "but has other limitations).
Also note that its size and weight while moderates do not always allow the machine to take with you (at least as easily as a tablet 10 "). But 14" is also more comfortable for reading the 11 "other Chromebook. To see so depending on your usage.
Finally, HP and Google offer us here a versatile computer, easy to use (even for children), which covers all daily uses without administrative attention, and can even evolve easily to a Linux machine / Ubuntu more complete.
All for 250 (regular Amazon Lightning Deals on this machine), hard to complain.
