First I thought of a 5.1 Package Company devil, possibly one of the Consono series. This I rejected but then after I had decided to buy a different size for the front and rear speakers. Most small Brüllwürfel are indeed sufficient for good surround sound in movie playback, then show but weaknesses in music.
So no 5.1 set but single purchase. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) The Fa. Devils and other vendors showed up here not as flexible as CANTON that offer the audio sector, many speakers of different sizes.
Then I became aware of the many positive 85.2 recessions of the Canton AS. An unobtrusive size, a simple appearance (no glossy paint), good facilities, development and production in Germany (our salary) and the fact that it is a discontinued model have, then let me hesitate much longer.
I'm not disappointed in any way! After quick FBA already left the packaging guessed that it must be the content to something better. After unpacking a first amazed how well everything is processed. The potentiometer on the back are slightly rubberized and have a fine grid, which has proven itself in the subsequent fine adjustment very. The toggle switches are made of metal, but have yet again a plastic cap on the lever simply beautiful details that testify to a certain value.
Then the calibration my AV receiver from Yamaha first diagnosed a level error, but this was because the AS 85.2 is just not a toy. I had to adjust the time being borrowed Sub almost completely high, here the opposite was announced. So set to about 1/3 of the power. The level of error was gone now, but the sub is still at present. So a few of the fine detent positions settled down and lo and behold, now it fits nicely.
Automatic switch off works properly. Once I realized that the subwoofer was off although still a signal was available. However, this was at a very low volume. Standby 1 watt less so makes power saving fun.
Unfortunately, the AS 85.2 is not perfect for me. He is hiding behind a sofa, radiates across from and stands to make matters worse still too close to the wall, but I am more than satisfied with the good pieces. Everything works as it should, the sound is now nice and round, only sometimes he pushes himself a little more in the foreground, but what I attribute to the bad location.
What can not be seen in the photos of Amazon is that the AS 85.2 behind the perforated plate on the front has an LED that indicates the operating status. Green (light) = ON, Red (dark) = OFF. I was very pleased, because it would have been the only point I could criticize. But so also falls this criticism away.
Incidentally, the high-order amplifier unit was installed with me. In my requirements but also the 100Watt variant would certainly suffice.
The support of Canton is not perhaps the fastest (a few days I had to wait for the answer), but knowledgeable and helpful. This is me a thousand times better. As a quick response with empty phrases
I admit, it is the first subwoofer I've bought, but I would no longer want to settle for less!
