In contrast to the product description, the docking station is not suitable for the iPhone 3Gs:

With the supplied adapters no match in this case for the iPhone 3Gs. The thought of this is touch and classic for iPod that can not fit is obvious. (The Apple adapter does not fit)

When the iPhone plug an error message that the docking station is not designed for the iPhone and there is a suggested change to the flight mode.
