A Linux system is included. But since I could not do anything, I've installed Windows 7. Works just fine, when you install it with no problems. Drivers for unrecognized devices (there were with me not) can be used under certain circumstances from the also supplied Vista drivers CD.
The case seems stable, the carbon-like finish of the surface is a matter of taste, but is anyway rather inconspicuous. The trackpad I found initially unfamiliar, because it has a kind of "non-slip", a little rough. Compared to my MacBook fingers glide smoothly not quite what after a short familiarization phase but could not care less.
The keyboard responds well, the stop is precise and I think also a prolific writer could cope with it. The additional number pad is a nice gimmick, I do not need it really, but the place is so well exploited.
The screen is 15 inches with a good size and also bright enough. I have the laptop next to a window and never have to close the blinds or the like, despite reflecting display surface. Outside, I have not yet tried it. But one could, because the battery delivers even at maximum brightness about 4 hours of electricity. Again, in this price range I think it's very good. The included power supply is rather small and therefore easy to store in tight bags. The power cord is a bit short.
Disturbing operating noise can not be heard by the way. At most, the rustling of the hard drive, but that's not distracting. When you insert a CD / DVD he lays naturally louder going on, but how often do you do that?
All in all, by the really good quality for the price and, as already described, appropriate processing can I only awarded 5 stars for the product.
