My challenge: Ordinary wireless connection of the EC to the Fritz box on the first floor, there was only a very weak WiFi reception on the ground floor in 2 rooms. My first idea, the WLAN using a WLAN - "Repeat" repeater to I rejected fairly quickly due to the normal performance loss 40-50% over the radio link from the router to the repeater. This set brought at the same price the desired solution: the Extender on the computer under Windows 8 within 2 min configured. Get out of the socket at the desired place in the back "wall socket" !!! - No multiple socket or extension cord take. This is also so in the recommendations to the unit and is confirmed in several blogs / forums! After that, the "basic unit" (without WLAN - button) to the original outlet (also works on a power strip) and ... full WLAN reception on the ground floor. The difference to a pure repeater is that not be picked up and amplified the radio waves of the wireless-providing router, but on a new Extender wireless network is set up. Thus, the Extender on the same circuit can also be well connected to each other socket (terrace, garden, basement, etc.) to get very good results, which is not possible using a repeater. The only problem: The printed German description is correct, but cumbersome written, so it is not easy to understand. Tip: think of when setting up the WLAN in mind that a new network is constructed. One is easily inclined to believe when reading the installation instructions, you should configure the existing router "something". The configuration is made using the enclosed CD in the browser and only for the Extender! My personal Conclusion: exactly what you need for the connection of two floors in a circuit with a fast and stable wireless connection! Advantage: on each TP-Link - Device is a network connector, so that the wired connection of devices is possible. And: TP-Link supports all current safety standards (in the configuration menu set up quickly)!
