I own Apple devices (iPod, iPad), some Android tablets and among other things a high quality smartphone with Android operating system.
There is in my experience a fundamental difference in quality
respect. Touch operation against the ipad / ipod and Android systems.
When i-pad touch operation is liquid, reacts immediately, scroll soft.
Even the start-up is faster.
In all my Android devices, the touch operation is more or less tenacious, does not always react immediately,
the scroll is ever accidentally open an application or file, instead - to scroll.
The ramp up will lengthen as Androids. Responsible include also any SD card mounted and the
Media-wise be scanned. The processor used also plays a role.
Now you have to decide. Currently, if you buy an android you have to live with it, or just buy Apple
with all known annoying limitations (iTunes, USB, extra memory cards).
It is then when Odys Genesis.
++ Packaging: The unit is great, packed in a sturdy cardboard box
++ The purchase behinhaltet a 24 months pick up service if defective (note: the unit costs only about 200 euros)
+ Screen: from the front very well, vertical axis swung hard to read, swiveled horizontally rather well
So I look at it from the front anyway
++ Shell: it is a matching envelope included, the unit fits perfectly fixed in it and is completely enclosed = protected with a magnetic closure, you can open / close, very nice, it's like having a book in hand.
++ Screen Size: 8.4 inches with very good length / width ratio. The format is better than the 7-inch
the French competition and acts despite only 1.4 inches longer significantly larger.
+ A 4 and 8 Gigabyte SD card is easily detected and used
00 Battery life: between 4-6 hours at WLAN, video, games.
For me personally this is a bit too little. But for the price you can not expect good
- Wireless internet is weaker than in iPad / iPod; slowly and reach about 40% lower
2 routers tested. an approximately 20 meters unusable / accessible; a ca 1-5 meters
works well but overall a little slow
- No Android Market; It is offered with far fewer applications SlideMe
SlideMe runs only if an SD card is in the device.
Function does also the AppCenter as a market that increases the number of applications a bit.
"No Android Market" weighs heavily when one realizes that one example his favorite Android chess
can not install, what's going on the Android smartphone.
- Every now and then the screen at the bottom of flickers; could also be due to applications
if there is another hardware that is of course a thick minus point.
- The on / off switch is not ergonomic attached right below at the bottom of the device.
One must then "search" with the right thumb switch and hold for a few seconds.
Much better it would be appropriate right at the top.
My Conclusion:
Now has to show how the battery lasts in continuous operation and as the durability of the device is generally.
In addition, I'll try to run to bring my favorite applications from Android Market on the Odys. Mir makes the device a total of fun and I would buy the Odys Genesis again.
Who relies heavily on the Android Market or strong wireless reception needs, should, however, select another device.
