My goal was the kit lens of the Canon 1000D (was an old kit, therefore, only the 18-55 without IS) to be replaced by a cheap but good standard zoom. The 18-135 offered itself directly, because it can come up with a good range of focal length.
After I read some reviews here and on other sites, I ordered the lens.
About the Lens:
The image quality is in my eyes (as a hobby-photographer) more than tidy, had been able to make very nice pictures on the first day.
The bokeh of the lens I like personally very well (I invite still an example image of this high).
What I am particularly pleased that the focus is carried out without co-rotation of the tube, thereby polarizing filters do not lose their effect. (In contrast, as an example, the EF-S 55-250 or the EF-S 18-55.
So far (after the first 2 days and copious test) I could not detect any disturbing empfunde Abber ration or vignetting. I just hope it stays that way.
A distortion of the lens I noticed only in the absolute vicinity of the focal length, so at 18mm and a little more. However, I feel it here not as disturbing, but even as pretty as it is not too extreme.
To feel the lens: Although the lens is made primarily of plastic, but it makes me a very good impression processed, and can be easily operated with one hand. The weight is not too small, but not too large, so there is a good weight distribution in the overall package with 1000D. As soon as you still use an external flash (in my case, the 430 Ex), the whole bit front heavy.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this lens and can highly recommend. For 300 you really get a great part, this is really worth the money!
