Positives:
- Image quality I judge as excellent
- 3D effect in 3D mode and brightness are great, little ghosting
- Gran Turismo in 3D is awesome!
Negatives:
- I have failed in my PC (VGA) or PS3 Media Player rehearsed 3D material (TV recordings in side-by-side) play in 3D mode. The monitor has not activate menu function 3D or so. Either he gets material via HDMI 1.4 in framepacking leaked and then makes 3D or not. For example, Sky 3D satellite receiver is so NOT work.
- Sound quality of the built-in speakers is slightly below my 10 Euro clock radio (real Grotting without any bass)
To get (and this is the endgültg star deduction) no headphone output to stereo without a good sound for playing alone -
Conclusion:
Currently (January 2011) is the HS244HQ unrivaled in the category of affordable / small displays for 3D gaming with the PS3. That's why he goes back under any circumstances. Gran Turismo without 3D - never again :) The (affordable) 3D future for everyone has begun. Sorry about that you should be aware of restrictions ...
-------- Update: ------------
Due to the set surged discussion and thanks to the new CT ') I try again summarize what the Acer can and can not do.
There are currently probably 3 different 3D signal "standards":
1) HDMI 1.4 "Frame Packing":> this supports the ACER !!
Principle: 2 images are transmitted separated by blank lines together in a Megaframe (a 1080p image is 1920 * 2 * 1080 + 45, so 1920 * 2205 pixels in size Unfortunately this only works up 24p you for Blu-Ray, but in order to.. come game is suitable 60Hz HDMI 1.4 limited to 720p
Equipment that the issue: supposedly all external Blu-Ray player and (most importantly) the Playstation 3, as well as Nvidia GeForce 3D Vision (but not in 1080p 60Hz, see below).
Caution: Not all Blu-Rays are filled with mega frames. It depends then probably from the player on whether shrink to side-by-side (ie 2)) can be converted into HDMI 1.4 compliant Mega frames. Opinions welcome :)
2) HDMI 1.4a "side by side"> can not do anything with the ACER !!
Principle: 2 images are stored in a "normal" 1080p, 1080i or 720p frame compressed impersonate side-by-side or top-and-bottom. By upsetting the horizontal or vertical resolution rezudziert by half. The advantage is the 100% signal compatibility with established HD signals.
Equipment that the issue: Sky 3D (ie all satellite receivers), in principle can just spend every HD-enabled device.
3) 120Hz "frame-sequential"> can not start over with the ACER !! (Has announced the 30 more expensive ACER GN245HQ which the then)
Principle: The 2 images are easily transferred sequentially, ie twice as fast with 120 instead of 60 Hertz.
Devices that spend the Nvidia GeForce 3D Vision-capable graphics card
Eieiei - this chaos is so the price of early adopters. If any information does not, be sure to tell about it.
Conclusion:
PC gamers should wait for the GN245HQ. Sky gazers have 3D deeper into their pockets for a TV, the HDMI 1.4a understands.
Who just wants to look PS3 games and Blu-Ray is operated correctly with the HS244HQ.
