The installation of a hard drive was no problem except for the fact that one of the four small screws to close the housing could not be screwed. Do not make so much of, with three it keeps me well.
Connected with USB to a PC and the drive is recognized by Windows 7 at once and could be partitioned and formatted. But be careful! As a target for copying the SD card only FAT32 partitions are recognized, neither extFAT nor NTFS.
The operation is apparently very simple. There is an on / off switch and a Copy button, but both also for switching functions and partitions. Switching on: Press the power button for about 3 seconds. Then insert the SD card. A short click on Copy and after a few seconds, the device offers the first partition "P1" on. Select another partition Now either the power button or directly start the Copy button to copy. Here be careful, because other than the Copy function, there is also a "Del" function (is displayed), with the data on the SD will be deleted. I wish the producers would not have built this feature, because I want to back up my data and do not delete. This can take my camera. I struggled for a while with me to deduct a star for this, but I am come to the conclusion that one should deduct star when a functional defect, not a surplus.
A Micro-SDHC card in the SD adapter with about 460GB data is copied in just under two minutes, about 4MB / s means. This rate is more than sufficient to back up the data in the tank in a short time after a long photo excursion in the evening.
Conclusion: For the intended purpose of me the additional backup on vacation, the device is perfectly suitable. (I've tried before and returned because he has realized none of my devices on the target page the Belkin USB Anywhere). A little caution, because some risk that the data will be deleted rather than copied.
