Positive:
- Supplied with 2 140mm fans. In all, seven slots for fans + that of food.
- Flexible: the lateral and superior ventilation holes are closed by removable soundproof elements.
- Removable filters front and below.
- Finish quality. Solid feel.
- Beacoup room for disks in removable drawers with white anti-vibration rubbers. If you do not need so much space, the upper disk block is removable, which improves the airflow and can accommodate long graphics or other cards.
- Case wide, no problem for the management of cables on the right side.
- Noise reduction thanks to special coatings (but not completely silent).
- Look how simple "black box". Some prefer the boxes that make the bluff, I prefer one that remains discreet.
- The connectors and front panel buttons are accessible without opening the door.
Negative:
- The filter in the front is not easy to remove: you have to open the door, then open the gate, turn the fan module before you can slide the filter.
- The filter below is not easy to replace: not easy to align in the slideways. The simplest is to lift the box.
- The wiring of the front fan is not easy: you have to leave enough slack in the cables to open the ventilation element, but it is not necessary that these cables are made in ventilos.
- The front plastic imitation brushed aluminum is less class than the rest of the case.
- The hard drive top drawer is too small: a hard disk normal scrapes against the cage size 5 "1/4 My solution is to put my SSD in that drawer there..
- Hard disk drawers are an obstacle to the ventilation from the front. They are removable but with my 4 + SSD drives in RAID I need.
Other notes:
- Contrary to what some believe, ventilation in the front does not pass through the grid, which is completely blocked by the door. She not pass the side openings and below, which give between the grid and the filter.
- There are two slots for SSD on the right side, but you must remove the motherboard to attach / detach. I preferred to put my SSD drive in a standard location.
- Complete equipment. I just regretted additional screws for fans, because the fan that I bought to put down was not sold with brackets.
- Concerning the connectors and front panel buttons, it is actually on top, which is weird at first. Do it will not gather dust? In any case it is ideal for a box placed on the floor: The connectors are much more visible and accessible as if they were in front.
The Define R4 became my reference. I do not put 5 stars because there was still perfectible stuff, but overall I am very satisfied with this purchase, so 4 stars.
