On paper the xbox one is less powerful than the PS4, in practice the difference is not that huge. True multi-platform games run better on PS4, but today the difference appears increasingly slim. If it was important in the first game (COD Ghost 720p on Xbox One, 1080p PS4), it is now negligible (Destiny for example). Some still chipoteront on some detail or color rendering ... in the heat of the moment that does not change. The developers are now coming to almost identical versions on both consoles so that there is no jealousy (there will always be trolls who criticize without arguments but ...). Curiously, the xbox one seems to be more complicated for developers to master the PS4 (the trend has reversed, for the Xbox 360 / PS3 generation it was the opposite ...)
By cons I would like to briefly talk about the comparison "PC / Consoles" which quickly ignite some forums. I myself have recently built a PC from "gamer" to have something "much better" than the next gen consoles, says some experts (or trolls?) I5 Processor 3.2Ghz, GTX 680 OC, 8 GB of RAM etc ... Honestly, the difference is not so huge when you compare it with games also released on next gen (Battlefield 4, AC 4, etc ...). Yes the PC version is a little thinner and runs at 60 fps, but does this justify the huge price difference (900 for config of this type, 400 a next gen console)? In addition, on a PC screen (which rarely exceeds 30 inches all the same), the difference is hardly perceived.
Certainly consoles games run a little worse, but again in the heat of the moment we do not deal with minor differences and what counts is the pleasure of the game. The consoles have a good appearance more user-friendly (and quieter too!) a square rough-shaped PC and a nicer interface. No loss of time trying 50 different settings that will crash the game, we play right away. And that is a big advantage. All that to say, I'm a little disappointed in this passage on PC and think resell to redeem myself ... a xbox one that I sold to buy a PC ...
To return to the Xbox One, I appreciate its silence, its user friendly interface even if sometimes a bit slow, versatility (in addition to being a console that is a media center), and above all, its games! For now, I prefer the Xbox excluded just for Forza Horizon 2 buying the console is justified. The problem of PS4 is that it is lost in the fashion of "HD remake" (Last of Us) and what I call the hipster gaming that is to say independent games to ignoble graphics and have (at least for now) little interest, even if it is true that the Xbox also has a little less but obviously and especially, put less forward. For me the only game that alone is worth buying the PS4 is Killzone. The last dated excluded (Driveclub) is a big disappointment ...
Time will tell who will have the best games, because it is the strength of a console that's not her powerful brute but its games. See that each console will when developers will go up a corner of hardware optimization, and also which console has the most potential ...
For now I have a preference for the Xbox, especially at the games, the more I have long preferred the look of the PS4, but I have to say that the Xbox, more sober, fits better in a living room between a DVD player and a box, while the PS4 with its weird shape swear some more. After it is a matter of taste. The PS4 standing is beautiful, it still must find a place to put up ... A flat, you do not notice it and that's a shame. And last detail manic depressive, the PS4 takes too dust, xbox one less ...
I will say that the only flaw of the Xbox One, not the least of which is that you can not change the hard drive. Certainly we can add an external hard drive, but I do not like the idea of having something hanging down behind the console, and more if you install a faster disk (SSD for example) that does not improve system performance will always remain on the internal disk him ... Too bad, Microsoft curled without fault.
