An exciting film with humor told court. A thriller which also convinces with good actors.
At the beginning of the film, some characters are introduced. This is done through flashbacks or joint discussions of the people. Then the film takes place mainly in the courtroom and an exciting trial begins. The main witnesses are questioned by defense and prosecution. This process is implemented but never boring. But really interesting and exciting. There is always something funny passages and scenes that soften everything back. The End / Final of the film is one of the best that I've seen so far for me.
A man is accused of murdering an old lady. A well-known, but heart disease advocate, will take over his defense. Most important for the case, the statement of the wife will be. You could refute the many clues and thus ensure an acquittal. But it gives the impression as if she were hiding something.
The lawyer (Charles Laughton) is likable and a ulkiger type. The little game between him and his personal nurse who annoys him with the doctor's orders, run through the whole movie and are really funny.
Marlene Dietrich as the main witness is nice to look at and play their role well. In between, a little joke, it acts otherwise than supercooled acting wife of the accused. She sings a song in the movie (I will never go home anymore).
An exciting and entertaining crime / court film with convincing actors.
