Is this processor at all worth the money, and who needs to at all?
From the perspective of a Computerpielers the price / performance ratio does not like
be just perfect, too often it is compared with an i5 2500k or an AMD pendants.
I5 high bars, or a similar priced AMD and same gaming performance at 100-150 euros ... save-right!
From a photo / video editing user's perspective, however, the price / performance ratio just designed to optimally why?
Especially when it comes to the main feature of I7, multithreading, a huge difference can be felt where?
For editing, exporting, and rendering of audio / video (AVCHD, ... etc.).
I cut AVCHD material with many effects, transitions and slideshows within a project, am amateur filmmakers with ambition to more :-).
A finished project has for example a length of about 36 minutes -. 1920X1080X25p about 10 tracks for project material.
Utilized program Magix Video Deluxe Premium.
My old AMD Dual Core (X2-6000 + @ 3100) required approximately 4.8 hours for it, and the way work was not possible!
So came a i5-2500K @ 4200, which was much faster, and was 2.3 hours with a veritable quantum leap! (By the way works perfectly possible)
Now my new i7-3770K @ 4200 is by having fewer than 1.5 hours, and I have no restriction in the way works!
I think with increasing project length you will understand where we are headed.
I liken deliberately not using AMD's FX 8 core CPU's, but this review is not thought she should just my practical experience
reflect, and not just any one GHz posturing with high clock rates, but where every practice application is missing, or is simply not given.
High clock speeds and many cores do still far from good CPU!
Primes can finally all CPUs :-)
Therefore is my personal conclusion:
For games it is probably too good and probably overpriced.
For For example. Video editing almost a must, not everyone can be like night unguarded computer several hours work!
