I use the 13 "MacBook Pro with Retina display now a long time and am completely satisfied with the device.
I've flirted before buying the MacBooks with many ultrabooks.
Unfortunately, I have repeatedly seen points, who spoke against the one or the other device.
Be it a plastic housing, loud or annoying fan or quality problems such as halos and pixel errors or gaps on the housing.
This would be to get over everything, if prices were not in the range of MacBooks or even settled it.
At the end I have therefore decided to use the MacBook.
One thing first: problems like the aforementioned, I can not discover. Since I already had some Apple devices such as the iPad Mini or 4, I did this, however, already known.
Design and processing: Very good and noble. The complete housing, called Unibody is super processed. The keyboard is also very well made and admitted and provides good feedback when typing.
Display: Very good and very sharp. No quality problems (pixels or halos or color distortion).
Operating System: OSX Mavericks is going very well. The touchpad gestures with the best touchpad industry work great as well and go after some time in flesh and blood. However, some things I miss from Windows 8, such as the quick split windows (Snap function?) Or the advanced system settings.
If you do not need Windows programs or may resort to a virtual machine, OSX is a good and nice alternative.
But my work I deal mostly in the browser.
A mouse I need in this OS and this touchpad and its gestures no longer.
Speed: In conjunction with the I5, the 8GB of RAM and 256GB of PCI-based SSD MacBook is prepared for everything that can be expected from him.
My way of working: Most is simultaneously open the Safari browser (10 tabs), Chrome (Hangout), Firefox, Mail, Spotify and a number of smaller programs.
So far, everything runs smoothly.
Battery: 8-9 hours, depending on the workload of the system. Good!
Temperature and fan noise level: In general, the machine operates at light activities such as surfing the Internet at about 40 degrees. But if one gives the device the spores it can reach 98 degrees. However, the temperatures are within the specifications. In normal operation (surfing, e-mail) is the unit silently until very very quiet. In load the fan only at temperatures of 60 degrees and slightly audible at 90 + degrees can be heard. But the fan is never intrusive and always comes very quickly in the inaudible state.
Conclusion: A super device. Buy!
Negative points: There is no delete key and no touch screen, which does not really matter, because OSX is not designed and touchpad operation works perfectly.
