The new Nano 4G is definitely not charged by this charger. I tried it and it appears literally "impossible Charging via firewire" error message.

The reason for this is the new Nano can be charged only on the USB voltage pin in the docking connector, and no longer as before over the Firewire-voltage pin. Apple has changed namely the specification and the third have (again) in the cold.
