The device comes with a 5V power supply. To start a few cable connections are necessary:
The power supply unit into the wall socket, as short as possible high-quality VGA cable (not supplied) connects the converter to the computer. Optional bring a 3.5mm jack cable to the computer sound into the converter, so that the sound from the HDMI link can be transmitted.
The HDMI cable to the TV set, done!
The good news now: The device works perfectly. It is possible a 1080p signal (1920 x 1080) to bring with 60Hz in really good quality for TV.
The bad news, and the explanation for a lot of negative reviews here: There is much to be observed.
Ligawo has not bothered the common video modes that customarily a TV via EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) report back to the computer via the data pins of the VGA cable to which they would each do directly via VGA connected monitor.
This is mentioned indirectly in the instructions for use: It has exactly at the VGA connector is pure, whatever is out via HDMI.
So you have to make sure that the converter exactly gets the signal that it needs to output via HDMI something, what does the TV.
And that brings a very deep into the (at least for me) almost forgotten abyss analog video technology when the current operating system is not in a position contrary to the EDID information to enforce pre-defined output formats.
The following parameters have to send the computer to a 1080p signal back comes out:
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Refresh rate: 60 Hz
Pixel clock (dot clock): 148.5 MHz
Horizontal pixels with blanking interval: 2200
Hsync Start 1928
Hsync end of 1964
Vertical lines with blanking 1125
Vsync start: 1084
Vsync End: 1089
The results for all Linux / Unix / FreeBSD user Xorg or XFree86 use the following modeline:
Fashion Line "Ligawo1080p" 148.5 1920 1928 1964 2200 1080 1084 1089 1125 -HSync + VSync
If you've made the initial configuration, the device runs at very low heat generation in continuous operation without any problems.
From the configuration and the lack EDID information I would give it three stars. But as it so easily runs in really top quality after initial configuration and considering the price, I forgive the full five stars.
