The writing in the one-line display is very small. The usable viewing angle is extremely narrow, so that reading is only possible in front of the phone and in a very specific angle. The smallest deviation and the display screen is unreadable!
The speakerphone is too loud already at the lowest level and a tendency to drone. In addition, the caller is heard through the speakers through constant short misfires and is not properly understood.
The ring tone and its volume can be adjusted silently, ie the settings are audible only when an incoming call 'absolute nonsense.
Operation on a standard telephone socket in conjunction with an analog modem (in my case an external Devolo 56k USB) is only very limited possible. In the modem dial the phone switches as expected from (display off). Upon completion of the online connection, however, the Euroset still remains off. Ie. You can not be reached! Only when the handset for about 5 seconds. is lifted, the operational readiness and availability is restored. The current time on the display starts again from 0:00 clock.
My e-mail accounts at Siemens were more or less ignored persistently with evasive answers or standard non-matching text modules. The final answer from Siemens then quote was: ... "At the Euroset 5020 is no fault to use the phone after the deactivation of the modem, it is necessary to lift the handset for 5 seconds Another possibility does not exist... " ... Unquote.
Among the few positive features include the good workmanship and the high quality materials and stylish designs. The other extra features such as mute function with melody, call duration and various other functions to change the overall impression very little.
Conclusion:
Good idea with some serious and numerous minor shortcomings. For a global company like Siemens overall poor performance!

Edit 02/02/10
After 1.5 years now I would like to add that there the function and all comfort features of the Euroset 5020 work well unchanged. Meanwhile, I have cable broadband, here there are compared to the analog modem no problems with the readiness of the phone.
Further disturbing is the small display, the limited viewing angle and the far too loud speakerphones.
From today's perspective, I would forgive nearly 4 stars.
