What I did not like so much:
- Only Stereo (nothing with 5.1, dts and Co.)
I really did not think, even be able to buy a sound card with TOSLINK output in 2014, which not even Dolby Digital 5.1 masters. Since I am really shocked that Creative produces something.
- After plugging (Windows 7 Pro) Although standard drivers were immediately with large Bimborium without my further action installed, but the device worked then not (no tone). Then plugging installed again drivers, I had several non-functioning audio devices in Windows work still did nothing. Only the installation driver CD then brought a working setup to light; the installed devices are incorrect, to my great surprise and gone, but it took a while, they were gone immediately.
Install Driver CD before the first plugging: My recommendation.
Neutral:
- Logically, several devices have been installed by the driver CD. A playback and a recording device had been expected anyway, actually it was per one interface. So there is a playback device called SPDIF and one called Speaker. The latter, however, is misleading, the unit speaker refers to the headphone output (large jack), a speaker is not. When the microphones there are as many as five devices now: microphone, line-in, Phono-In, SPDIF In and What You Hear. Up to What You Hear there's these inputs actually on the device (microphone is in front a large jack, Line-In and Phono-In are RCA inputs (each stereo), SPDIF is exactly) what What You Hear is to be, I know not, but perhaps that is a loopback device, which accommodates just what is spent just on output.
The large number of audio equipment has its advantages (flexibility) but also disadvantages (is already really hard a lot).
A mode in which you normally spends on TOSLINK (eg stereo), when plugging headphones but hear directly with this and TOSLINK is automatically mute, I have not found the way. Who wants to listen with headphones, must appear in Windows manually change the playback device. This is rather unusual. Since I do not have the application, it does not bother me, however.
