Longing I have the Canon expects. When unpacking it is found that the 9000F is a very high quality-made device. Clean design, but however somewhat bulky and expansive. The controls and switches are there where they belong and perfect to use. All include cable included, which is not always common practice at Canon. The Canon has three different carriers for films (strips with up to 12 pictures), medium-format (only movie) and slides (4 slides per scan) in this set. On the software side, everything is complete. In addition, the professional scanning software SilverFast and Photoshop 8 is included. The installation went quite fix. Only SilverFast made bitches.
First, I scanned the images with the standard Canon software. This goes up to 4800 dpi. To be resolved one way yet later I could not find in the O software. Scanning goes with the original software fairly quickly. The SilverFast version is anything but almost. So I need felt probably twice as much time with the "professional" software. In addition, the software with the many windows is far from clear. A "is not at all" is the fact that SF is not running without the supplied Photoshop 8. I have both Silkypix, Lightroom and ACD Pro installed. So a combination is nonsense for me. The whole package flew so again from the computer. I think the post so personally enjoyable. Also image quality from the SF could not score solution.
Still, I was surprised by the quality of the scanned slide film. With a "scanner", as was geunkt, the results can not be probably very good. This is nonsense. The result exceeded the results of specialized slide scanner in all respects. I am fully satisfied with the obtained result, need not annoy me with a slide scanner, which I leave after collecting dust somewhere in the corner, but have also a device that I can continue to make good use of. The Canon has a LED as a light source, so that the scanning is very fixed and reduces energy consumption. Another plus for the Canon. The Canon is also also pleasantly quiet, what scanners also not always the case.
Short and sweet
Positive:
+ Quality and feel
+ Operability
+ Delivery
+ Equipment
+ Speed
+ Original Software
+ LED technology
Negatives:
- Included SilverFast software in combination with Photoshop
- Operational problems through SilverFast
- Space requirements
- Price
My conclusion: I am glad to have opted for the "Scanner solution". What surprised me the picture quality. The pity is that the possible parameters can not be achieved with the original software. However, the results indicate that the workflow with the in-house software not only accelerated, but also in terms of image quality, not behind the "professional solution" hide needs. Only the size of the device may result in one or the other desk to worry lines. The SilverFast solution could be saved in favor of a slightly lowered cost price, the Canon people. Due to the excellent scanning performance I give the Canon but all 5e.
Addendum March 2013: The purchase of the scanner has paid off for me in retrospect. After more than two years of use, I can draw a positive Endfazit. The Dialösung is optimal in my eyes. Even friends whom I have borrowed the scanner were thrilled. Otherwise, the Canon scans everything in the LED occurs. Problems or defects did not exist. Gratifying for me is always the "omission end" Warm-up by the LED technology. This is a ecter advantage in practice and making the workflow much smoother. Meanwhile, the price should also be significantly revised downwards. So no longer exclusively the IT technology now.
