But first the new features / differences of the RX-V475 with its predecessor -V473:
- MHL port back (playback of HD video and / or multi-channel audio with the matching Smartphone)
- FLAC & WAV now to 24bit / 192kHz (formerly 96 kHz)
- HDMI input more
- New Bluetooth adapter (YBA-11) can be connected
- DC-out USB (power supply) for the back adapter
What is - as far as I can see from the screenshots on the network - has not changed, is the much-criticized User Interface. However, I have it suspend zero-comma-Nix, it does not look beautiful.
In summary, more a (small) evolution than revolution. Who has the predecessors, probably does not need to upgrade. I for one had shot me in advance on the RX-V47x; when I came back from abroad after a long time, the new predecessor was already announced, totally overpriced. For 330 EUR, I then slammed in another shop.
The processing of the amplifier is OK, like the design super me. Letzters but - just like the sound - pure subjectivity, so I'm going to this well not elaborate. They say yes to Yamaha that it outputs a rather clear and undistorted sound - I would sign it so and that is also exactly what I was looking for.
But now to the / my main theme. Long I have scoured the internet to send my elle long RCA / jack cable into exile. Find anything I am then in the next sentence a review of the previous model of Magnus mold - he deserves my gratitude ;-)
1. AV-R to the network:
I have just ordered a 10m network cable, I am fortunate that the router is not far away. A PowerLAN- or optional WiFi adapters VWA-10 should work just as well.
If the router via DHCP distributes its IP address, the amplifier hereby already in the network (default is the most set). I really had to do nothing else than to insert the line. If DHCP is disabled, can / must you simply assign the desired IP address in the menu.
2. stream from a Windows PC or MAC
Who uses iTunes can now probably send the music to the amplifier. For various reasons, my program comes but no longer on the hard disk, you can also order indeed only send music from iTunes - not by the web browser, Winamp, MediaMonkey or whatever.
Therefore, I downloaded the ingenious software "Airfoil". That's a small but fine program that lets you select in the upper drop-down menu the user, from which source it will stream audio (eg Spotify or Firefox), and at the bottom you can select, where to stream - in the most cases so the RX-V475. The software costs 25 USD (~ 19 EUR) and is really worth every penny - I'm absolutely thrilled.
But it gets even better: if you want to distribute the music in the apartment / house, the free app "Airfoil Speakers" can upload to your smartphone or the old laptop / computer - so that these devices are virtually to "Airplay" receivers!
What else remains to be said:
- The Controller app works fine of course continue. Still lying in bed an MP3 start from your smartphone - a nice gag? I think it's great.
- The SCENE function keys inspire me also: a pressure on "BD" (Blu-ray Disc) and the TV, BD player and AVR to jump. These buttons are used to prove its own discretion.
- Similarly, the amplifier will turn on when I start my laptop and have recently used the Airplay function.
- Selstständige calibration with YPAO micro worked perfectly straight away.
- There is already a first firmware update. Uploading works quite easy through the setup.
- A slight crackling when switching of TV channels can be heard (Samsung TV via DVB-T)
In the issue of Internet Radio I have to familiarize myself only. However, it is already working properly. In the manual describes how to create his favorite channels (via the vTuner portal).
I generally put anyone who acquires such a complex product, the heart, the manual download (it is also known as CD). I do something even always liked before I spend so much money, and make me an idea of features and controls.
All in all, I am thrilled by the device. Since my old unit came from the pre-HDMI-time, which for me of course a quantum leap and I was relatively easy to excite. But since I have researched in advance long, I'm pretty sure that we have made with this AV receiver is the right choice.
