Setting up the NAS was relatively easy. You can make user-shares, the amount required for those limit etc .. - what you expect from a NAS halt.
In energy management could be automatically go to standby in principle the NAS and define times at which the device down and reboots. These functions were with me a reason to buy, because I pay attention to power consumption.
That with the Standby has in me will never work, the unit always runs full speed (~ 20W). Also with the off / on times does not work properly. Although I had set it up so that it's night out, it runs in the morning still. Although it should be off the LEDs, the fan runs at full speed trotzem.
Also via the web interface, the device does not turn off properly. Most comes a message that I should wait, but even after minutes, the device switches from not - as with the Power button on the front. For the holidays, I had to "go down" it the hard way with the power cord - but it had then taken longer during start-up, until all the data were gechecked.
When I wanted to turn it off again last week by Power button, it crashed half way, that I still have file access (eg via Explorer) but the web interface is no longer accessible. In this state it is for a week now.
I have contacted from the outset to support Seagate. There is also only after insisting that I remove the plates, connect it to a PC and using DiskPart to delete all the firmware should play fresh and configure everything. Hi - the unit is new and has never worked properly.
First, I have not just 1.7TB of Shares free and no time (ca.80h copy) for something.
When I objected that this could not be the meaning of a RAID system, that I should do everything flat again, they said only that it was just a normal procedure. It is already certain technical understanding needed and I had to buy myself something simpler, if I do not have that.

Also display the amount of data is wrong. According Dashboard I have free 3/4, according to Windows-Explorer about half.
On the website of Seagate could even download apps. The selection is quite poor and of the few that I have brought interest me neither to work.

Addendum: The Händer is also of the opinion that I do not have fresh set up the device and I would even lose my warranty when I do that. I would recommend the Seagate back as defective and have ordered a surcharge Synology. (Will also report about it)
