1) purchase decision
Lately, I've gained some printer and could make me on the basis of many experience a good picture of the current printer market. I bought in recent months 2 new printers, which were firstly, the HP Photosmart 7520 (review posted) and, secondly, the HP Photosmart 5520 (review not possible). My previous models: Epson XP 700, Brother MFC 4510DW J-.
After the two HP devices rather beautiful prints, are intended as, for example, for pictures, I have time for an "office equipment" decided that I want to print only documents with this device. For me it was the purchase of printing speed, wide range of features and I wanted cheap costs.
I think my decision to stay at HP was definitely the right one.

2) Delivery
The purchase, so the order and delivery were handled directly by Amazon. This is, as usual, very simple, very knowledgeable and very fast. About 3 days after the order the unit arrived in Austria with me. It was during the delivery delays or other problems. With the delivery to be made, I am very satisfied.

3) Packaging
The device is already quite large, correspondingly great was also the carton. This time, only the printer was in a cardboard box, in the HP carton. Normally, the outside yet another box of Amazon. Not this time, I find it not necessary yet to use a carton. The printer was very good verpackt- so very securely wrapped in a plastic sheet. Many Styrofoam and cardboard pieces guaranteed the necessary support in the printer box. All doors and lids were secured with adhesive tape so that nothing could open during transport. 4) Package

The power cord that was supplied is sufficiently long and consists of only one part. With some printers the power cord is in two parts, the power supply itself is therefore not installed in the printer. In 8620 it is different, the power supply is already integrated in the printer, so that only a thin cable must be connected. The scope of supply also includes an adapter for foreign pension schemes.

5) Unpacking and installation
The printer is relatively fast ausgepackt- one must only remove all sheets and adhesive tape, slide the duplex unit correctly until it clicks and then you can already plug in the power cord and turn on the printer. In printhead carriage are neither dummy cartridges still protecting clips, the slots for the inks are free. The paper tray is to be able to pull out the cardboard braces and brackets for transporting remove. About 10 minutes of time required for unpacking and setting up the printer. 8) Standard use

You send from your computer to print a document to the printer, the print job will start very quickly, with wireless connection between the printer and computer, this will take a longer track. The communication between the printer and computer is working properly both via USB, as well as on radio. The HP driver offers some features on your computer. These settings include, for example, setting the print quality, page order, paper source, etc. The printer has an automatic duplex printing, which can be activated directly at the computer in the driver. > Scanning

10) quality, speed
Speed:
The HP Officjet is really a very fast printer, the print jobs are quickly identified and handled. Black and white, and color copies are printed very quickly. Also, the scanner or AFD offers a decent speed. The datasheet can be found in a maximum number of 21 pages per minute. In draft mode, the printer is indeed very fast. Even in normal mode I find the speed very neat.
Quality:
The quality of the printed pages and scanned documents convinced me totally. There is really nothing to complain. But it must be clearly stated that the printer is not designed for photo prints. But you can safely now and then print photos, although the quality is not as excellent as in Photosmart devices but for me more than enough. I like the color reproduction very good, black is really deep black and not light gray or something. Really, I can not complain.

11) Ink Cartridges
HP replaced on a printhead with directly mounted cartridges. This is considerably less effort in preparing the Druckers- therefore saves costs. I think that's not bad in principle. Normally printers have directly attached printers cartridges somewhat louder than indirect cartridge system but the printing of the 8620 is very quiet. Printer preparations you only hear very quiet, and the pressure itself is quiet. I was in possession of MFC J 4510 DW Brother and was louder by far than the HP.
HP focuses on 4 separate ink cartridges in standard version and also in XL version with especially high range. From Photosmart 7520 one knows the system with 5 separate cartridges, here comes another simple Fotoschwarz- cartridge added. The Officejet has and needs no Fotoschwarz- cartridge. Here rich only 4 cartridges in the colors black, yellow, magenta and cyan.
Prices of ink vary from time to time and from provider to provider. Comparing prices of different manufacturers, it is noted that HP is actually pretty much in the middle. Not super cheap, but not hugely expensive. I think the price of the cartridges entirely appropriate. When Brother I actually paid for 4 cartridges normal execution to the 80. The follow-up costs of the printer will turn out in the future. Tests to follow to get to a page rate of around 2 cents. If that is indeed so, then you can print relatively cheap.
The ink cartridges are equipped with a chip. So the proper use is ensured. The chip tells the printer that you have used HP cartridges. The level of the cartridge can not be determined exactly.
