My expectations were before buying:
-Easy And comfortable surfing the Internet
-Easy Use of standard applications such as Mail, Skype, route planning, etc.
-Test And applying apps of all kinds (preferably free)
Movies look (preferably over the network)
, Create -Music, pictures Photos
Manage deadlines, etc.
-Play (If time period is ;-))
After I now have the apparatus 3 days, I can say that 98%
the expectations were fully met.
Except for the video streaming from the NAS from the network, which
partially did not work and a very "jerky" affair
was working all of the above perfectly. Even more: Office documents
view, edit and even read PDFs, etc. is no problem (not
time to install an additional Apps was necessary).
That with the videos I can only explain so that Honeycomb 3.0 easy
is not yet ready. The EEE PC described above of me, can HD videos
without jerking stream via WLAN from the NAS, so I do not think that the problems
lie in the Transformer hardware.
Presumably, this point is not yet with the update to 3.1 finally
completed, but I am patient and see what is in the field of software
will do yet.
Respect. the hardware can I report that the Transformer in my eyes
is very, very well made. Certainly the iPad2 is a "jagged" elegant
(Especially in white) and also has an aluminum back, but the Asus looks
also very valuable from, despite plastic on the back front. Problems such as "creaking", etc.
as here has often been posted, I could not find in the device.
The thing with the "halos" true, but I did not interfere further since
This can only be seen when the device boots up (the screen is dark then) or
if you open a dark time or app, for example, the "Settings".
This really is no reason that device to return again.
Problems with the left speaker I could not find.
The battery is with me now at 15%. I have used the pad, with all
"Trimmings" (games, surfing, apps load, etc.) about 7 hours. Perfect for me.
But I have to Finally Get Rid of a few criticisms still:
Since, according to some reports on the Internet, the SDK of Honeycomb only since February 2011.
the developers are available, the choice of native apps is very lean
(Especially when compared to iPad apps from the iTunes Store). Can for this circumstance
the Transformer but nothing and as described above, I will be here in
Practice and watch what was so comes in the next few months patience.
I also think "stupid" that you paid apps in the Market with "Google
Checkout "can pay. There are alternative sites where even direct debit collection
and also PayPal go, but the mass of apps when it because times which are,
lie in the Market.
In summary, the Asus Transformer is a very good device. I personally
can thus carry out all "everyday business", as well as the on-screen keyboard for
is me perfectly adequate. 10 finger typing is not a problem, though
selecting umlauts is somewhat "awkward" (but this is just as the iPad).
I have yet ordered me the appropriate "Keyboard Dock". I'm curious times,
how the Transformer then "transformed".
Update: 10/06/2011:
Streaming from NAS is no longer a problem. Just install the app "UPnPlay" connection
build and select files. Depending on the type of file, music, video or images,
Select the appropriate player. Videos work with the "VPlayer" (even
DVD VOB files are played). HD videos (MKV) stutter, but I think with
version 3.1 of Honeycomb will also be solved.
Per "Bluetooth" I stream music from the NAS to the "Belkin Music Receiver"
to the "stereo". Works just fine.
Pay the "Android Market" works (currently) only with "Google Checkout".
To this end, I have set up a virtual credit card "mywirecard"
comfortably on their own account or through cash payments to (some)
Petrol stations can be charged.
So I am still and always more satisfied with the device, because
but to almost every problem will be resolved.
Update: 20/06/2011:
In part 3 of my review I would just like to report briefly that now
"Honeycomb" is installed in the version 3.1 on the device and I also
instensiv the "Keyboard Dock" use.
HC 3.1 enhances the already brilliant Transformer by several percentage points.
It feels now everything faster and more stable. Some "gimmicks" such as
round scalable widgets or scroll through the open tasks
the operating system.
If you have connected the "Keyboard Dock", has, in my view
a full netbook in hand, with everything you could need (mouse,
USB connectors, F-keys, etc.). Will you put the power adapter, so
both the battery of the dock and the tablet loaded simultaneously. A
full charge took me about 4 hours. On the web there is a
nice app, which represents the two battery stands side by side.
Latch or unlatch the tablet work perfectly and you also
not under the impression that after the twentieth time the mechanism will be damaged.
Graduation Conclusion:
A great device with an array of amenities, good hardware, high fun factor
but also potential for serious work.
