Customer Review

I have just tested this device and am determined to review for the Acer x1373WH writing.

I have the equipment ordered me to use as opportunity Beamer.
Because the Acer X1373WH was as days offer now so extremely low (299), I have the trial ventured, though I (X1340WH) was very disappointed with the predecessor.
The application is designed with me for the professional as well as for personal use with friends.

In short, the projector is for the regular price of around 380 absolutely fine and is only supported by Benq MW523 minimal beaten!

The zoom range is 1.1: 1 low, allowing almost no leeway in positioning the projector. The last Beamer generation had the same objective. But it is definitely a new product line of optics because minimal changes can be seen. And this production series translucent much better to be produced, because the sharpness distribution is excellent.

The light output is 3000 ANSI lumens very well and is generated by a 190W UHP lamp Osram. This light-power from such a weak lamp is currently the best you can get. The lamp life is excellent with up to 10,000 hours. The blow-out and the volume in Eco mode are also very good!

Here is a comparison of the positive and negative characteristics of Acer X1373WH:
For details simply by enumerating more!

+ Luminous intensity
+ 3D 144Hz
+ Barely ghosting in fast motion (football)
+ Almost straight image edges
+ Up to 10,000 hours lamp possible remains to be seen
+ Power supply and dimming the lamp absolutely silent
+ Allegedly dustproof encapsulation of the optical unit is showing the time
+ The remote control affects quality
+ No strong flare
+ High dynamic and real (ANSI) contrast
+ Good shading representation
+ DLP-Link 3D, very good Sync
+ 2 year warranty on the device / 5 years on the DLP chip / 1 year on lamp
+ Very good menu
+ Color wheel barely audible
+ Lamp replaceable by own flap
+ Black value for the price range well
+ Very quiet ventilation system (but louder in dynamic mode)
+ Supplied lens cover
+ Power consumption durchnittlich only about 225W
+ Sharpness of the price range well
+ Hardly sharpness adjustment in the warm / cold
+ Outlet temperature only 50 degrees

o Fixed Extreme Eco Mode as the absent MW523
o only two adjustable feet (mostly but standard)
o 1 HDMI inputs (with MHL)
o halfway useful presets
o a sufficient number of adjustment for home theater
o no RGBRGB color wheel, some people think that this is only suitable for home theater
o lamp flickers sometimes when changing some settings or image options
o Chromatic aberration mediocre
o 1.1 times zoom
o sufficient Sluggish lens with a weak image shift during actuation

- To use speakers useless and only as a last resort
- Replacement Lamp with 170 relatively expensive (but not too dramatically in the long term)

So the projector has an above-average performance and gets me the full score of 5 stars!
Better in my opinion is just the Benq MW523 since this is a 1.2-fold Zomm lens and a fixed Lampcare mode has.

Please note that I can only speak for my Beamer here. By apparently large series dispersion in this price range, it may be that you get delivered a better or worse copy!

End of the short review!

Here are the details for all who are looking for more information / impressions about the device:

The packaging is simple, unfortunately without handle. The projector has sufficiently cushioned (molded foam) kept in the outer package. The remote control is no lighting and a quality image.

The projector even has the rear ports, which will be optimal for most and has 1 HDMI port. This projector has two adjustable feet. Thus, the projector is set well mobile.
The lens is fine.

The picture quality is to use preset halfway. Readjustment is but for true HC Feeling duty. The brightness is very good, the contrast as well.
It is not possible the whole picture in my unit to provide 100% sharp, but the sharpness is well adjusted to a very good level.

After a short adjustment work but I did it manage to derogations to max. 3/4 pixels to adjust exactly. I assume that everyone Acer will have this problem varies depending on the series dispersion. 1 pixel offset to the worst point, however, is perfectly normal and had all the devices I tested.

Scattered light is easily available at X1373WH to the air outlets. Furthermore, the image edges are all nearly straight (max. 1cm deviation to 2 meters).
Chromatic aberration (color fringing, ghosting, max. 1 mirror offset to the bad steady point) is as mentioned above after some tuning work more easily available, but no longer falls on from a distance.
On the whole, the optics but be described as very good. For this price (380) you can not expect a larger zoom range and better sharpness.

The distance from the screen should be at 300cm and 330cm X1373WH between, is therefore extremely inflexible. This refers to the most commonly used screen width of 200cm. The projection rate is between 1.50-1.65: 1, depending on the zoom. It is also important that the focus in the operation does not change noticeably!

To adjust the focus there is a test image at all Acer devices. Simply press the projector switched the menu key when no input signal is present. Here you can adjust the sharpness well to achieve good sharpness across the entire image. 100% clean but you do not get out the image. The typical DLP color fringes in different forms and colors you always, depending on the series dispersion and quality of the optics. Up to about 1 pixel width you have to accept (is no reason for complaint from the manufacturer!). Otherwise, however, would have the more expensive lenses not have permission. One must probably regard the series dispersion also have some luck with this device but!

I was a bit shocked by this fringing on my first DLP and wanted to lodge a complaint. However, since all devices tested this phenomenon had more or less, you must accept that. The LCD Group has in some cases even more, because not 100% accurate tuning of the 3 LCD panels contours-ghosting caused.

However, one must also mention that optical errors in Full-HD to be much easier than at 720p devices! This is simply due to the smaller mirrors that conceal the error bit. Optical errors which are produced by the lens are on the mirrors, whether HD or Full HD, always equally strong. Therefore, the error on a smaller mirror as with Full HD are not as flashy as on a slightly larger mirror with HD-ready, although the quality of the lenses is equal.
Thus it can be said that HD-Ready devices need a better lens so that the subjective image quality is as good as Full HD. Thus, you have a slightly better chance to obtain a good image at full HD devices.

The brightness is Acer with 3000 ANSI lumens, contrast with 13000:. 1 In my opinion, the specified brightness is not an exaggeration. And 3000 ANSI lumens of 190W lamp power are currently the best thing you can get.

The image of X1373WH acts about as bright as the one with my Benq MW523 (both calibrated). For projections in daylight but that is not enough really. While you can all clearly visible, but the colors are still pale and without contours. But that is better only when many more ANSI lumens.
In light angedunkelten room the picture is however already very good and perfect in very dark conditions.
Compared with other devices tested with 2,500 lumens (Benq W750, Optoma HD131Xe) seems to me the brightness to be a little stronger. The contrast and the shades are represented but very nice despite the high brightness. Only the black level could be even better, although I would have classified this as a very good ..
Anyone looking for a really perfect black level, will not be able to find in this price range.

One can this but with a gray screen greatly improve if you can do without some brightness.
The projector has in this respect, more than enough reserves.

The volume of the Acer is in normal mode is not really loud and in Eco mode phenomenally quiet !.
The decibel information (DB) are apparently less meaningful than the actual volume level in the dynamic mode, which is probably the most used. On 100% Lamp power most tested devices are simply useless, unless you have a party. The X1373WH here is so far the only exception. In dynamic mode, the permanent change of the fan speed is but annoying! You can even activate the Eco mode or Dynamic Black. But not both simultaneously.

The Acer has installed two internal fans, but they are so thoughtfully placed to ventilate the whole Beamer well. The fans generate just one rather loud air noise, no hum or high frequency hum. The fans run in Eco mode at about 2000-2200U / m, but that depends on the ambient temperature.
The outlet temperature is rather low (around 50grad).

The menu is typical Acer-built and in addition to the pure presentation projectors contains settings for Gamma and Dynamic Black. So enough for home theater. The configuration options are extensive and allow sufficient adjustments. However, I have not been able to calibrate projectors clean on D65 (Green value is too low).

The 3D capability is excellent. Both the effect of depth, brightness, and the pop-outs are well. Flicker and ghosting there practically not at all. The lack of 3D-RF function I do not miss. I can not imagine a better 3D.
When X1373WH the lamp brightness can be adjusted in 3D mode with some other equipment that does not work, unfortunately. The triple flash 144Hz with only runs with native imagery, which is played at 24 fps. So either Blue-Ray with 1080 24p or via PC with the same settings. The projector then converts the pictures on 2x72Hz, ie 72fps per eye. This is absolutely flicker-free. In Sky 3D goes however not as Sky transmits in 1080i 50Hz. The glasses shutters then only in 100Hz and then you see the flickering light. 50Hz per eye are not flicker. Even 2D to 3D conversion, the device supports this feature was its predecessor, the X1340WH not exist.

The rainbow effect is very different in my opinion. I've been easily susceptible and see the effect very quickly, even though it bothers me only conditionally.
The X1373WH has a RGBCYW color wheel and is as far as the rainbow effect is very good
About the usefulness of RGBRGB or RGBCYW color wheels there are lively discussions in the appropriate forums. Since I did not have a projector with RGBRGB color wheel, I can help no personal experience.

One more thing on the subject of motion blur or ghosting:
Some devices fast movements result in contour shadow or be image content for brevity time blurred.
The Acer has little contour ghosting even in slow motion.

The internal speaker (1x3W) reaches at best a temporary solution and sounding rather flat and is quiet. For an all-round projector a 2W or 3W equipment is unfortunately now commonplace. But the 10W speaker of Benq W750 is not much better. Thus, this is not really a disadvantage.

In summary, one can say that the Acer X1373WH is highly recommended for the performance offered.
Thus, the Acer X1373WH and Benq MW523 sharing the first places in my personal 720p ranking.
The quite good optics corresponds to the price. The optic is in this price range happens to cheap goods, there is always a risk to get an inferior device.

Acer gives the unit a 2-year warranty and 5 years on the DLP chip and 1 year for the lamp. That's actually fine.

The Acer uses a 190W UHP lamp X1373WH of Osram and consumes about 225W on average. A replacement bulb costs about 170, which is relatively expensive. The life is very good with up to 10,000 hours. The prices of projector lamps vary greatly from the type of lamp used. Lamps with 190W are usually very low. Lamps with 210W + are usually much more expensive.
Therefore, it does make sense to look at the types of lamps used in the upcoming issue projector exactly.
It is not possible to close only by the lamp used to their life or the beamer brightness. There are projectors that deliver 3000 lumens with a 190W lamp (MW523) and projector, which with a 210W lamp only 2500 lumens afford (W750).
One should also keep the power consumption in mind. A projector with a 190W UHP lamp usually consumes less than a projector with 210W +. Add to this that Beamer are usually quieter and cooler with a 190W lamp.
Why (lamp power / lumen output) are such differences here probably know only the manufacturer .....

The difference from 720p to 1080p is recognizable to me, even if the individual pixels can not really identify with 2m picture width even at 720p. The main advantage is the much weaker form of the optical errors by the optical system for me. This point is more important for me than the higher resolution itself. As I have had the luck and the PJD7820HD appearance is OK, I go out of this in full HD devices for reference from. So I can only make a comparison with other devices with this resolution in 720p / 720p + range, and because of the cuts Acer X1373WH very well.

I hope this review helps others something in their purchasing decision.
From my unit gets 4 price / performance star.

The few things that could be better:

- Somewhat more uniform sharpness distribution
- Three adjustable feet
- 2 HDMI ports
- A little more zoom
