The device is indeed impressive size compared to a smartphone: 15,7cm high, 8,1cm wide ... little hands away!
BEAUTY AND FINISHES
- High quality finish while matte aluminum metal (insensitive to fingerprints), the most beautiful effect
- Biometric Fingerprint Sensor to the back of the camera (not necessarily practical to unlock it when placed on a table)
- PHABLET really extra fine - 7.9mm - but relatively heavy (185g including battery, but good, the screen is large, it seems a logical minimum)
- The overall design of the device is successful: it has its eyes on those of the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy Note 4, but accessories (charger and headphones) white rather evoke Apple
- Level Packaging is also managed: elegant, sober and discreet, dressed all in black, it gives the feeling of acquiring a product really high-end
Alas, sobriety apparently also requires no documentation is available in the box! If you do not know the Android system, you risk a bit too much hassle (fortunately the device is fairly intuitive so you can get by without)
PERFORMANCE AND AUTONOMY
- The Ascend Mate 7 has an Octo-core processor Hisilicon Kirin 925: performance seems to RDV in terms of basic use: Ignition speed, easy navigation of Android 4.4 KitKat system and immediate opening of applications (Note: I have not tested against by games to "push" a bit processor)
- At the level of the display, however, there was a default vertical scrolling "hang" a little when browsing the Internet and reading long documents. It's a shame ... and especially tiring over time!
- An overlay "house" EMUI 3.0 designed by Huawei: it complements and dresses the Android system with class and efficiency aside some rude and unforgivable translation shells: the lock screen, for example it is downright wrote " drag to déveroullier "(!!!). Such misconduct is simply incredible, and really unexpected on a camera of this level range O_O
- The quality and screen size are impressive Full HD screen 6 inches, IPS-NEO LTPS technology. The screen is really successful because it is "borderless" (there are only 2.9 mm wide on the sides, which allows the screen to occupy 83% of the unit's surface and keep dimensions that are "reasonable" for a phone).
That said, I find that the colors and contrasts are a bit of pep compared to my old Nokia LUMIA 925, more shimmer to the eye
- In terms of autonomy, this is also very impressive: the size of the unit allows to slide a 4100mAh battery with greater capacity, and it fits easily into a short week then it is used the cleat (phone, web surfing, constant WiFi connection) !! Nothing to do with the classic Smartphones (type Samsung Galaxy s3 or Nokia Lumia 925 which I used before)
CAMERA CAMERA &
- Despite its sensor announced at 13 Megapixels, the photo quality is very average and sorely lacking in definition and "stitched" compared to that of Samsung Galaxy (with the more polished optical); it is a pity that the size and quality of the display allow for optimal photo retouching ...
- For selfies, a 5 megapixel sensor is found on the front; it is not bad, and it really is little distorted by wide-angle optics (unlike Nokia LUMIA, who suffer from severe distortion of the image). For cons, I find that pictures taken are very vague and too imprecise and "stitched".
ERGONOMICS
- One SIM support (Micro SIM) on the side
- Intuitive buttons all located on the side (note: the button that controls the sound is a little off, you tend to press them accidentally)
- Size of the machine quite uncomfortable at first, especially when you have small hands (size 6 and 7 of gloves, you understand), and then we made it, it is a usual story.
By cons, you can not slide in a front pocket (or back pocket if you wear jeans with small pockets chicks)
- Since the camera is great, there is a little hard to know where to place his ear when phone at first (you hear nothing more, and we realize that we were not in front of the earpiece). It is a blow to take when you have a little face!
TELEPHONY & COVERAGE NETWORK
- Good coverage on 3G and 4G "classic" (device already close to the new 4G standard + to come, and therefore not tested to date: the "4G LTE Cat6", which promises download speeds of up to 300 Mbit / s)
- Bluetooth and WiFi infallible for now (I also use it as a mini-tablet to surf the net and read ebooks, it's nickel, no "drop" found!)
- Interesting NFC connections to swing music from Huawei to an enclosure (like Philips Fidelio) or to any NFC-enabled receiver.
CONCLUSION:
A device-oriented high-end ultra-competitive price, with indisputable quality at the proposed autonomy and featuring an impressive screen size in relation to the overall size of the phone.
However, it suffers from some unfortunate pitfalls in the fluidity of the display, and the mediocrity of his camera - complemented by the lack of documentation and hallucinating errors and totally unacceptable to French translation - mar this rosy picture somewhat.
If you are looking for an excellent price / quality, the Ascend Mate 7 is considered. For performance and flawless finishes, I orienterais me to models from Samsung or Apple ... at obviously higher prices!
