I bought the Metz MB 44 AF-1 3 months ago to my Nikon D5000. After I had already tried several flash units (eg Nissin Di622 Mark I, Cullmann D4500-N etc.) I had been good experience with the Metz 36 AF. 4 As the 'Better known to be the enemy of the good' is, I have the Metz 44 AF-1 put on me, of which I am completely convinced. More energy efficient than the Metz 36 AF-4, motorized zoom reflector, diffuser and diffuser - in short, everything you need for creative flashes. The communication with the camera (Nikon D5000) works perfectly: No over- or underexposed images more - as frequently at Nissin or when Cullmann flash, which was very annoying in the long run. The recycling time of Metz is very fast, the operation simple and intuitive. After switching on the device, although this requires a long time, until the 'Ready' light comes on (with NiMH batteries) - but then it's the real thing ...
Through the USB interface you can even download software updates without having to send the unit to the manufacturer. - What is missing is the, metal base with the optimized lock system 'of Metz MB 58 AF-2 digital.
