The Volar HD Pro is less than the TerraTec representatives (about the size of a USB memory stick) and differs from the normal Volar HD through an included remote control. Furthermore, a small antenna is included, which can be attached either by suction cup to any smooth surface and with a clip on the monitor casing of a notebook. Also striking at the antenna are its compact dimensions and the extendable dipoles that should improve reception. Attached is the Software AVerMedia AVerTV 6, where it must be said that other Avermedia software can be used. Thus one finds on the manufacturing side, the AVer MediaCenter that an even better impression than the standard leaves software. However, can also be found in the enclosed software all the necessary features, ranging from Teletext up to the EPG and the software responds without annoying interruptions to inputs. Who wants to do without extra software installation, which can use, in the navigation in Media Center, the attached remote control can not be used as the Windows Media Center. It is active only in pure TV mode. It can be personalized with the card, however, use other remote controls Avermedia whose functions are far more extensive. This is possibly of interest to owners older TV cards of this manufacturer. Qualitatively, the included remote control according to the price range is very simple, although they did better in the hand is in my opinion than the credit card remotes from other manufacturers.
Technically receiving the combination of TV card and antenna TerraTec card was also superior. During the TerraTec card outskirts indicated in my DVB-T transmitters only in the immediate vicinity of windows, the Volar HD Pro has listed itself in the apartment for more than half of the receivable with an external antenna channels and, more importantly, also played. The antenna of the Volar HD Pro seems to really make a difference. The Avermedia card only took about 3 minutes for the full channel scan while in the Terratec stick in the fine search setting 10 minutes passed, though less programs were found.
I can Avermedia Volar HD Pro therefore thanks to the good reception performance with the standard antenna, the included remote control, as well as the good Avermedia Software (Standard or AVer MediaCenter) only recommend and would prefer repeatedly in a direct comparison of the TerraTec Cinergy T Stick RC.
