The plug and measure is a breeze thanks to Yapo, here and there a little fine tuning and you can already use the device ...
Pros and cons compared to the older models:
Pro:
- Good handling (the calibration appeared even more precise as the previous model I)
- Excellent soft sound with enough bass (I operate the amplifier with boxes of Canton Ergo Series + a Yamaha Active Subwoofer) even with jazz or classical music
- Blu Ray and TV films but also enough "pressure" in surround mode)
- You can now even with DTS-Master Audio switch to 7-channel operation even when only 5.1 is output from the source
- 5 HDMI inputs with 4K Upscaling (I did not use but the option is good)
- Very many adjustment possibilities for individual use (input selection, Scene buttons, sound fields, etc.)
- Internet radio possible and front USB for example: the MP3 music collection (with remarkably good sound despite compression)
Cons:
- There are only four stars because of the Yamaha undignified displays ... yes, there is a chic GUI on the plasma, with all sorts of gadgets and gimmicks ... but I think Yamaha has a nice DOT matrix display on the flat also input signals etc . are displayed. Maybe it's a matter of taste, but as a cheap fake "Dot Matrix" display just looks modest and does not fit the otherwise very-quality processing of the device.
- Another point of criticism is the remote: far too small keys, you almost need a magnifying glass to see something and you have saved a function to operate the TV find totally weak
