LaCie Porsche Design USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive 3 TB (P9230)

Package arrived with a day in advance. Without proper packaging (including that of the manufacturer) .. charcoal gray color instead of silver gray, but gray shade was not clearly stated on the website, and DD is not a bibelotDe anyway the visual delight.
Technical side:
No connection problem in Windows 7 pro, this is not "plug and play", but it is hardly more difficult,
The software suite is abundant (4 in all), but quickly shows its limits:
o Lacie Desktop could almost be useless, so it is simplistic,
o GenieTimeline should be useful if you do not have a program like Acronis (in the latter case, choose Acronis), or buy it instead of Genie Timeline Pro, which will be offered in place of the free version.
o Encryption Software (Lacie Private_Public) proves useful if one needs to use its SD with multiple computers, otherwise Acronis also has its encryption software. Note that for encrypting a space Lacie 2TB with software, it takes 23/25 hours with a computer with an i-core processor 7! But Acronis is then faster for backups that it is not necessary to encrypt the backups.
o Automatic layout software on the Cloud (Wuala), it will be tested by addicts Cloud
After 24 hours of seamless encryption, DD was not even lukewarm (30/35 ° C?), So a feat for Lacie!
No criticism of the user guide (in PDF) appears to be sufficiently comprehensive to common use of SD.
Conclusion
Subject to verification of the durability of this 3TB HDD (true to Iomega for 12 years, it's hard to judge), but depending on the reputation of Lacie, this HDD is quite recommendable to buy especially at the price of 149 euros.
