Positives:
- Very good keyboard for a netbook (best that I know of), no "chiclet" keyboard
- Matte screen with normal brightness
Neutral:
- Only single-core Atom with 1.67 GHz, normal other facilities (only 1GB of RAM, 250GB disk)
- Normal battery
- Normal interface selection for a netbook, only 100 MBit Ethernet
- Small to medium sized trackpad, not very good to be taken mouse buttons, two-finger scrolling works better than the EeePC 901
Negatives:
- On / Off switch: slide switch on the front, it is possible that it is sometimes unintentionally activated
- SD slot: stupid position slightly below the front, card looks far out, not usable for permanent loading
- Top of the screen is bright (the black model), prone to fingerprints
- Device acts processed cheap, little rickety, screen flexes slightly, a few sharp edges, a few gaps between housing parts
- Screen is indeed dull and reasonably bright, but as a function of angle, low in contrast (and normally bluish) that you would like to look at any photos and movies
(- Probably bad Webcam - not yet tested)
Scope of supply: Netbook, battery, power supply, a few thin instructions. There are neither in material nor cover installation CDs.
Decisions:
I kept it because it arrived on my keyboard. However, one can say that the EeePC 1015PEM is probably in all other aspects better (especially the display). In general, the quality has suffered for two years more, the EeePC 901 is much more workable.
Notes:
Works well under Linux, if you installed the "Samsung Tool" and "Samsung backlight".
