The new second edition of Kitobjektivs differs from the old only in some external shades. Optically, this lens has not been altered and still has an identical Bildstabulisator and aperture values. Canon has, like that time decided the 50mm 1.8 Mark I to save on production costs, therefore now this lens (and the 55-250 IS telephoto lens receives the new finish). I can tell at first glance no worse build quality, only the score on the basis of one can align the lens when attaching the camera, is not designed as a three-dimensional small collection, but only painted on. I personally like the new black finish better than the old one with the unsightly wide gray ring, now the lens looks in my eyes a bit high. However, this is a matter of taste ... In short, the small Kitlinse makes surprisingly good and especially sharp images. However, those who can not live with plastic bayonet and Co, should look a higher price range nevertheless. I find the little thing very convenient as very easy to understand and well (except MF) and optically perfectly adequate for 70-80% of all images in this focal length range, for the rest of you has usually anyway lens specialists depending on the application. Good conscience can I give it 5 stars!
