The technical data speak for themselves, which should be a good pocket camera made by Nikon.
Finally, a larger sensor, a fast lens, 5x opt. Zoom, 24mm WW, manual flash, reads very well.
So bought and tested extensively. Here the practical pros and cons from my perspective as a travel photographer who needs a complement to SLR aboard.
PRO:
- Processing
- Grö0e, feel, weight
- Battery life ok, cheap replacement batteries
- Manual settings
- Snapshot fit, fast continuous shooting
Improved menu structure vs P310 -
- Good average BQ
- Video is okay, but far from Sony Q
- Very good panoramic function
CON:
- Tends to over-exposure, partly extreme blue cast
- Sluggish menu
- Display too bright
- Color rendering unrealistic
- Distortion and Caen visible
- The solution to the battery is a joke, since Nikon was a bit short. The fumbling with the special serial cable is a disgrace. Also you must always have this on board!
At the same time the same images clear winner, the S100 have been shot with a S100.
If Nikon, then clearly the P7700.
Conclusion:
A camera with a lot of potential that the teething is hopefully in half a year off.
Then there is certainly an alternative to Canon.
In this class, you should get snapshots without manual intervention. A dial, similar to the S series from Canon is a desire of every ambitious amateur photographers.
So wait and hope for improvement of Nikon. With the now preconfigured factory settings rather unsatisfactory, a shame.
