Requirements:
* Mind. 22 "screen size, rather larger
* Connectors for VGA, HDMI and DVI
* 16: 9 or 16:10
* Mind. HD resolution
* Budget
* No 3D or similar
* Height adjustment and pivot function welcome but not mandatory
My Main applications are working under Windows 7, Office applications (sometimes larger Excel spreadsheets), Internet, video editing / video editing, image processing / image archives, and occasionally even a PC game - preferred car racing, real-time strategy, sports games. The complete non-professional field, but even with high expectations.
When browsing the internet and I came across the Amazon Acer S240HLBID; specifications fit, the ratings good to very good, sympathetic and the low power consumption of only 26 watts. So quickly ordered from Amazon. The delivery took the pre-Christmas period, although a few days longer than usual, but otherwise as always perfect execution.
The commissioning was quick: Tabletop install, connect power adapter and connect the monitor via an existing DVI cable to the PC. The rest completed Windows 7 automatically. In addition to the practical use I have image quality "Nokia Monitor Test" examined with the software; everything of course subjective, I have used no measuring software or measuring instruments.
Plus points after a few days of intensive testing:
+ Very uniform illumination (also frames in white / green / red / blue / black)
+ Not one pixel error
+ Fast response time, fully suitable for gaming
+ Mattes / very good anti-glare display
+ No buzzing / whistling / buzzing, how often by other monitors reported
+ High-luminance image, pleasant colors (warm in Colour Temperature)
+ Very flat, light weight; is still stable
+ Model S240HLBID with VGA / DVI / HDMI - eighth when ordering the correct choice!
+ Perfect sharpness in 1920x1080; good interpolation in 1440x900, 1280x800
+ Subtle Power light
+ Good viewing angle range. With reasonable screen distance (> 70 cm) start discoloration only when eyes are close to the screen frame. Absolutely alright.
There are also a few points of criticism:
- No real on / off switch, not even a standby switch. Despite reading the instructions, I do not know where or how I should press to turn off the monitor.
- In default screen brightness at 100. For me, clearly too bright; had to Settings - sensitive glossy frame
- Included No DVI or HDMI cable
- Menu navigation with the 5 buttons at the bottom to the frame some getting used to, but ok
- Weak interpolation in many resolutions; Exceptions see above
From my perspective, the Acer S240HLBID provides an outstanding performance for low money. In all my practical assignments so far I could not find any serious shortcomings.
If you have no special or professional applications, has presuppose certain requirements, to do with this monitor nothing wrong.
I would buy the device at once; therefore from my side a strong buy recommendation.
