At this point, the same praise to Ultra Sports - often lack an essential accessory, to use a technical device immediately can. Here is the same, and more: in addition to the camera set even a belt, USB cable and an analog video / audio cable. But most important are the accompanying 8 batteries and the 16 GB memory card! So you do after buying no big eyes, because you still need to buy something extra / order.
What can the camera? Spells :-) With that in mind, you will probably not be disappointed because there are always some limitations.
Since we bought the year before about 1/2 a surveillance camera from Denver (Denver Wild camera), we can now compare directly with this model of Ultra Sport. Together, they have mainly a typical olive-green camouflage and a CMOS 5MP sensor. One can both for taking photos and movies using, also both have IP54 protection (dust proof and splash-proof), so that an external application can also be - that would otherwise be a massive limitation if it were only a fair-weather camera.
The subtle but important differences lie in the details, especially in the technology, essentially:
- Shooting range: up to 50m - Denver only to 25 m, which is in some gardens and land well to almost
- PIR angle 90 ° (angle of detection) at Denver 60 ° - a crucial difference! Both are no wide-angle cameras, it also means that a close object quickly from the image disappears - for too long shutter lag can then be that the camera will not receive!
- Infrorot LEDs: 19-40 (depending on the range of the flash), Denver 36 LEDs
Casting Time: 0.8 - 1sec, Denver about 1 second (very important aspect to be no motive to run out of the picture)!
- Photo / Movie quality: each set, can in color and black and white quite convincing, while especially the photos appear overexposed often at Denver, and motives are not really recognizable
- Color screen: neither maximum resolution, but ok menu and preview - mounted in Denver on the front, which I personally like better, because you have to remove each of the GPS attachment at Ultra Sport
Accessories: including 16 GB memory card and 8 batteries at Denver None (To be fair, even the lower rate must be taken into account here, however)
- Handling / practice: here I like both cameras actually good. The Denver has on the bottom a snap closure with strap, so it can be opened and closed quickly, while Ultra Sport has chosen a rotating screw. The rubber seals work reliably in both cameras, water / moisture damage I had been none.
- But power, both on AA batteries, Ultra Sport is yet another possibility, a power supply (possibly solar) to connect
The Denver has also earned a luxury item: as these can have a separate remote control, accounts necessary keys (as with Ultra Sport) on the back. The Ultra Sport must necessarily the GPS attachment get set up with or without the batteries to be waterproof - this is the whole course optically thick and clumsy acts. But in beauty, it comes naturally in practice not really.
Speaking of GPS - does not need anyone, but is for locating and eg anpruchsvollen inserts very useful (viewing at bestimmeten places) -. Here arises gg Photo / movie a slightly longer trip time (1.2 seconds).. GPS works, I need it, but honestly with us not, because I know where I live :-)
In total package a more acceptable price, solid 4 points - who does not know those cameras will be well done. I use the cameras to monitor the way our carports (cats often on the car, unfortunately marten under the hood) and then to monitor the garden (hidden paths, z. B. by Wildkanichen). The digital zoom way, I can possibly ausgeschaltet- one meaningful on PC / Mac enlarge sections!
A note by the way still to the infra-red LED's - it is true that the black LED's the inconspicuous and rather better ones are. Nevertheless, I like the white better. Why? I've had it on several occasions that some animals see the light and therefore look directly into the camera - that gives great shots! In addition, the light frightens possibly from even - This can save other measures ;-)
Addition: During the test phase ran interestingly on 3Sat on 16.3.15 an article about such cameras with some very impressive footage.
